Question of volume, just to compare
Well, we know it´s somehow difficult to measure volume in a bodybuilding-type (no matter the approach we use) training, as we could do for example in oly lifting just by counting lifts at a given intensity. We can´t compare, for example, squat reps with curl reps, but they all add up, somehow. Anyway, I tried to register how many overall reps of presses-pulling movements-lower body compounds I wasthrowing per week, just to find any possible imbalace (more pushing than pulling and so on) or excess.
To make it simple I just count reps over 70-75% of 1RM (well, effective sets, no warm-ups or "pump" sets or whatever) on compund movements. My actual routine gives me:
Combined squat and deadlift variations: 50 reps (that´s basically a 5x5 on both deads and squats).
Compound press variations: 80 reps (5x5 on overhead press and BB bench, and some added sets of DB curls)
Compound pull variations: 89 reps (rows and chin ups).
The rest is accesory work, some "heavy", some lighter, but that´s the base.
I´d like to compare with you guys.
Thanks.
