Okay folks, tomorrow is the day that Mike Roussell's Your Naked Nutrition Guide is available to the masses! For those of you who aren't familiar with Mike, let me give you my take on this "next great thing". I had the good fortune of meeting Mike at JP's summit a few weeks back and well, let's just say I was more than impressed. Mike is as sharp of a guy as I have ever met. Anyway, to make a long story short, after hearing him talk, picking his brain and reading his guide cover to cover on the trip home, I immediately scrapped the nutrition chapter in my already FINISHED book and begged Mike to write the entire chapter (putting my editor in a state of anxiety no less). The chapter, like his guide, turned out incredible. Talk about easy to understand and even easier to implement eating plans.
Mike's greatest gift is his ability to take all of this info out there and filter and organize so that ANYONE can get a grasp of sound eating habits. Anyway, don't want to sound like an infomercial so go check it out as he has included some bonus workouts from Cosgrove, Nate Green, and Jimmy Smith for those who purchase quickly. Go already!! (well, they are actually available tomorrow.....):p

I really appreciate all the kind words. It is great that you all have found Your Naked Nutrition Guide informative but even better practical. A good number of people did pick up a copy of the manual at the JP Fitness Summit.
It is being released tomorrow at 10am EST. I'll throw up a note here when it goes live.

All you people got pre-released copies? Where's mine?

Just wanted to reiterate what the otehrs have said. It really is an excellant read, easy to understand and most importantly very applicable to your day to day eating plan

It was great to meet Mike at the Summit and he gave an excellent presentation based on his book. He's definitely a very smart man. I especially enjoyed how easily he answered questions from the audience. He knows his stuff!
Alwyn's blog has a short article from Mike that introduces the concepts of his book. It's a good read and you guys should check it out.
without giving away the guts of the book - why should I buy it? what is covered - in what kinds of detail, etc. I read the blurb at the link - didn't get much out of the blurb - anyone willing to write a real review?

I second that. There are also choices like Precision Nutrition by John Beraridi, TT Nutrition by Chris Mohr, etc, I'd like to see why this book is not just another book...

I'll third that. As the owner of the comprehensive Precision Nutrition, I want to know what the comment "It's great" means. Maybe someone can do a comparison. Taking the phrase from an earlier thread, is it worth it? The only reason I'm asking is, because something piqued my interest.
I've nothing against anyone but obviously when someone gives you a pre-release copy for free or discount, the least you can do is to return a favor and write something good about it. This is human nature to want to reciprocate a favor. I've mentioned about this "inside circle" review - same folks praising each other. It's different for under-priviledged like ourselves who have to pay full price for the items.

I don't believe that anyone at the summit received a discount or a free copy.
The bottom line is that if you want to read the book....BUY the book. If you don't, then don't. I met Mike and was about as impressed with his knowledge and his guide as anything in recent memory....to the point that I asked him to write the nutrition chapter to my already written book (yup, my nutrition chapter was done, edited and ready for final copy...and I trashed it). I have a good friend who has a way with analyzing this sort of thing better than anyone I know so i won't even try to paraphrase it. Here it is....
Quote:
If you are even THINKING that you need a nutrition book -- then you don't know enough to evaluate the book anyway.
If you have nutrition down -- then you're not looking for a book. It's a self fulfilling thing.
What does the book cover? Everything you need to know to get lean and muscular.
If you know what that is -- you don't need the book. If you don't know what that is -- then you need the book.
BTW, the comment 'it's great' is about as subjective a comment as any on the planet right? Just keep in mind that 'it sucks' is also just as subjective. To imply that all these people that are leaving positive comments are only doing so because they got free or discounted copies is ridiculous. BTW, how many books do you own that aren't very good? I'll tell you how many I own that suck...a shitload. Why? Because I bought them and made that assessment after I read them. I will leave it at that.

Well it's been said by many people already but, i've never got dumber after reading a book...its great to know in a few days we can absorb everything mike has put into research for probably many years prior to writing the guide
I work with nutrition on a daily basis, we all do...but it is my profession. I made it my profession after getting lost in a sea of gimmicks, advertising, and confusing nutrition information all the while struggling to find the answers to lose weight - because MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. I have read dozens of books, plans, essays, articles, etc but few have resounded with the same level of clarity as Mr. Roussell's, Your Naked Nutrition Guide.
I like this Guide for a number of reasons chief of which is the way it takes complex information and breaks it down into an easy to understand, easy to apply, easy to adhere to format. Whether you consider yourself a pro at diet dissection or a novice at nutrition this Guide will help you to achieve your physique and wellness goals.
It is 4:14 am here in Oklahoma as I write this. When you read this, you may think, "another useless plug for a product." As you know, very rarely do I write these types of messages. I simply don't have time or the inclination. I have made the time.
If you are one of those "advanced" people maybe you don't need to read this Guide. If you are getting results, GREAT! If you aren't, maybe you do need to read it. If you are new to the world of nutrition and find things confusing like I did. This Guide is your lighthouse.
Respectfully submitted,
Newman

Almost everyone that has responded to this thread commenting on the manual did pay for it. At JP's Summit I offered a discount to the people there but that is common practice.
Here is a section from an interview I did with Tony G (the rest can be read at his blog)
Quote:
TG: What do you feel separates your manual from the rest?
MR: The amazing cover!
Okay seriously…Your Naked Nutrition Guide definitely isn’t like other manuals out there for several reasons. I dedicate a whole section to planning and goal setting. This isn’t theoretical stuff but how to practically map out your plan so that you reach your goals much faster than you would otherwise. In the manual there is also a supplement section. I created the “Supplement Pyramid” where I separated supplements into Basics, Performance Enhancers, and Experimental. I outline what supplements fall under what categories, when you should take them, what to look for when buying them, and how much you should take. Another area is the Naked Nutrition Serving System. Counting calories is a miserable thing to do and definitely a waste of your time. With this serving system, I have outlined when and how much food to eat. You just pick the foods you like. There are several chapters dedicated to creating your own meal plans and manipulating them depending on your goals. Those are probably the top three areas where Your Naked Nutrition Guide separates itself from the rest.
TG: What can people expect when they buy your manual?
MR: Results. Really, this manual is all about results. Or did you mean what else is included content wise? In regards to content you get everything I just talked about plus a section on the importance of using multiple units of measure to track progress, what measures to use, and how often to use them. There are also chapters on Nutrient Timing and an in-depth look at the 6 Pillars of Nutrition – my foundational nutritional strategies. There are meal plan templates, recommend food lists, goal setting templates, charts outlining how many servings of each type of food you should eat depending on your caloric intake and desired macronutrient ratios. You get the point…a lot of practical content.

I like it. Great feedback in that post, Dos.
That's a remarkable change you did (dropping a chapter at the last minute). The original must have really sucked.
BTW, I've got a chapter on magical martial arts training laying around here somewhere . . . It's REALLY GREAT!
I third LisaS's request for a real review. That's always much better than marketing copy. I'm about 50/50 on when I purchase a resource: deciding "what the hell" after reading the marketing copy, or waiting for someone I know to have read it and talk/write well about it.
I nominate gobbla for the offical reviewer. He does a good job, as I recall. Otherwise, Newman. James???
