Question exercising 2 days in a row

I have been following "New Rules for Lifting" for the "skinny" guy doing mostly Hypertrophy routines. Currently I in Weeks 22-25 doing Strength I program and am quite pleased with the results.

When I have a program with 4 exercises per week, I sometimes find it hard to get them in all in the same week, especially when having a day between each workout day. I work out in a rather busy gym, especially on Monday thru Thursday. So I try to plan my routines to use the most busy equipment on Friday and Saturday. That saves 30 to 45 minutes on most days.

If I can only do a routine back to back with another is this a big problem as the book suggests, or is it OK when compared to not doing it for a week?

I'm not doing NROL and haven't looked at it yet. So my comment is generic..

I think it depends on your bodie's recovery capabilities. I've learned through trial and unfortunatley error as to how much my body can take before I begin to get into an "over trained" state.

It's important to get the workouts in but equally important that you have ample time for recovery. Listen to you body on this. That's my take.

Haven't checked the book but believe he says as many times a week as you want but not more than 2 days in a row.

Rob is right. I'm doing it right now, and the book says you can do 2, 3, or even 4 workouts per week as long as you don't train 2 days in a row.

Edit: I meant to add that I have chosen to do 3 workouts per week so that I can fit in all of the triathlon training that I intend to do.

Is it better to do the day back to back than not at all? yes of course it is,

will you get as much benefit ie growth or fat loss by doing them back to back as opposed to with a day apart then no you wont necesarily but in the grand scale of things if its the way it fits in with your schedule then go ahead

It actually say you can train 2, 3, or 4 workouts per week as long as you don't train more than two days in a row.

No one ever died from working out two days in a row. Hell, you're doing different workouts both days, right?
