I have some additional information. I had my basic metabolic rate measured with a Body Gem at my club. The RMR was 1650. Only problem is the person didn't really explain to me how to use this number. I know it means my body needs 1650 cal a day just for sitting and doing nothing...

How can I best use this number for determining daily calories needed on workout days and off days? Can anyone shed any light on how this information may be useful to me? Normally my club charges a separate fee for this service and explains things in more detail. I got it for free as a demo subject, and wasn't given't a lot of insight as to what it actually means and how it can be applied.

From what you said in your other post (eating 5-6 meals and feeling tired) I would think you are not eating enough. You are going to have to track your calorie intake for a while to see exactly what it is. Then you can make the proper adjustments depending on your goals.

OldGuy referenced another post you'd made about feeling tired - I haven't seen the other post he referred to, but if you're eating 5-6 meals but feeling tired, I'd question whether you're getting enough rest - i.e. sleeping enough, and taking sufficient rest weeks; in other words, you may be overtraining.

I know you're looking for calorie usage pointers, so I'm sorry if this is a bit of a hijack, but I'm trying to help.

Thanks, austintwo and OldGuy! I am going to start tracking my food, and I am currently looking into the reference OldGuy sent me.

As for sleep, that indeed mayk very well be the issue. I go to bed around 10, get up around 5....basically 6 hrs at most. My wife and I are on different "cycles" i.e. she goes to bed later and sleeps later. Some issues there between uus that I am working to resolve (that's another totaly separate post!). As for taking sufficient rest weeks, I am due for one soon. I usuallt take 1 week off every 6-7 weeks, ie about 1 every 2 months I take a week off. Gym will be closing soon for annual cleaning, so that time is near.

Thanks for your thoughts, guys!
