NROL in a nutshell?
I've been "winging it" now for a while in my training. I'm healed up and ready for some structure.
I like the sound of "6 basic lifts" on the cover of NROL. I hate a bunch of friggin strange exercises. Just give me the big basics and I'm happy. For that matter, I'd be happy doing the same exercises till kingdom come as long as I'm making some progress.
My favorites - Squats, Bench, Chins, Dips, DL
I see several around here using NROL. Does NROL contain routines? Or is it a guide for building you own?
At this point, I'd just as soon not build my own routines. Ready for someone to say "Here...do this" for a while. NROL?
Goal - Get stronger and put on some muscle while I'm at it.

NROL has plenty of "Here, do this." About a year's worth for most guys.

NROL contains 10 pre-made routines:
1 break in
3 fat loss routines
3 hypertrophy routines
3 strength routines.
I did NROl routines for a bout 3 months and got great results. Highly recommend it.
Edit:damn, Lou beat me!

Jimbo, you can't go wrong with NROL. Lou and Alwyn did a great job with this book.

Awesome!
Tired of planning my own workouts. Never thought I'd reach that point but I am.
Thank you both.
Not a bad price on it at Amazon either. Under $20 with shipping. I'm there.
PS - RL - You're sick sick sick. In a good way.

Either NROL or Starting Strength is what you need.

You'll definitely get the "Here, do this for a while" from NROL, but you'll get a few strange exercises as well. Can you say, "supine hip extensions with leg curl"?

"I hate a bunch of friggin strange exercises"
In my gym deadlifts, squats, lunges (with weight and not on the smith machine) and good mornings are looked at by everyone else but me as strange exercises.
NROL is awesome.

Supine..what? Well...I guess a few of those is ok. Long as I get a picture of it.

I didn't know we train at the same gym. I feel like a sideshow at times.

Ha ha. You're right. Same here. Get stares doing squats. Maybe it's that vane on my forehead about to explode?

Jimbo,
If you buy the book, I can set you up with the workout logs. I have them all created in Excel. I have done just about every routine in the book, too, with great results.

That Fat Loss series is brought to you by SATAN (aka = Alwyn Cosgrove) I have often considered owing him a punch in the face for creating the fat loss series...
Damn good workouts NROL was one of my best purchases for 2006 (its been a toss up between NROL and Muscle Revolution by Waterbury)

NROL should be required reading for trainers & trainees.
