Default Help me make a training decision

I need some advice. I just got done with an 4 months of intense training focusing primarily on strength. I took this week off to rest. I think I need to heal a little more because I picked up some bumps and bruises along the way. That aside, what are some thoughts on where I should go next? Any recommendations on programs would also be helpful.

What program were you doing for strength? Was it a good one?

You might toss out a goal or two.

At 162 I'm still a skinny pain in the ass. I would like to heal up, continue to work on my mobility and continue my quest toward monster status. I was under the impression that jumping into another strength program might limit my gains and that something else may be in order.

what's you're lifting looking like? you've got a 315deadlift, yeah? what does your squat and bench look like? what program(s) have you done for the past 4 months? how much weight have you added (BW)?

you can work on your mobility no matter what program you pick.

2 cycles of NROL Hypertrophy (some combination of I,II,II), then 1-2 cycles of strength, repeat.

No advice, just wanted to say "nice numbers" for a 162 lb pain in the ass.

Wow...that is damn good progress!

If you did that for four months and ESPECIALLY if you feel a little beat up, you should certainly consider changing gears a little bit. Even if strength is still your MAIN goal, it would probably be helpful to work on something else for a little while, then get back to strength. Even if you just take a month or so and do some kind of hypertrophy program, it might be fun.

Thanks Bill.

Maybe one of Waterbury's Hypertrophy programs would be appropriate. I've had good results on his stuff in the past.

If you don't mind a longer program. I have had very good success with the Book of Muscle routines. Both the beginner and Intermediate start out with lighter weight, high rep workouts and over the course of 6 months, ramp up to low rep strength work.

Gabe,
NROL Hypertrophy might be a good fit.
And, Paul's suggestion of Book of Muscle routines is a good one also.
I have logs for both if you need them.

This would be my recommendation also. Write up your mobility program and add it to whatever you take to the gym. Give it as much importance as you do the rest of your lifting.
