To those who answered my previous polls, my thanks. Since it seems most people do multiple days or 'cardio' and resistance training in a week, could you kindly also answer the following? (By doing so, I think we'll get a sense of how often people exercise and what they do when they exercise. It may be useful in the future for JP to try to gear info to us.)
Since there was only one other response to the poll so far I will presume it is your Answer Kaiser. You are strict about seperating the two, eh? I probably should be after reading all of Bill's posts about energy systems, etc., but I just pretty much do whatever I feel like doing, and it rarely fits what I "should" be doing. I will often ride my bike and several hours later grab a quick workout in the gym.
On a totally seperate note that has me totally stoked, I just hired a new Spin instructor, and he seems like he is going to work out really well. I am actually pretty interested in taking the class for the first time. I have yet to take one.
Really good spin instructors are hard to come by JP. If he's worth it, make sure you keep him happy. In almost 7 years of taking spin classes with a lot of instructors, only three have been worthy IMO of being calleed 'very good' and only one at being called 'great' For me, great is having all of the following: hard and diverse workouts, the proper knowledge to prevent injury, providing individual feedback as much as possible, and keeping it entertaining. Not to mention being able to pick good music! Needless to say, I stayed with her class for 6 years before I recently left to join another gym - and that only because she stopped teaching evening classes. She was so good for me that I kept my membership at that gym long after I wanted to go.
So look for someone knowledgeable and animated if you can.
JP, I have taught spin for about 8 years now and I absolutely love it. make sure your new guy mixes his rides up frequently and has a nose for safety and set-up (of the bikes etc.)...many of the participants set themselves up in terrible position on the spin bikes!
I know I am not near as nice to look at as the ladies that teach at my club but my classes are full nearly 100% of the time and we have a huge spin room (50+ bikes). I have to think its the GREAT music selection and perhaps that fact that I am one of the only instructors that intervals the s--t out of my classes. Let's just say that there's no "fat burning" in my classes if you know what I mean! I like to go ANAEROBIC on their asses often!

Dos, I would just LOVE to have you teaching my class here. That class sounds friggin' huge! I wish I had that big a facility, and enough cash to buy 50 bikes... Have you ever priced those things? Sheesh!
A good sign though, is that the things that you mentioned in the last post were things that I was unaware of, but the instructor sat me down and made me realize the importance of them. He seems pretty solid. I am looking forward to trying a class. I have never done one, despite offering the class at my facility. I just love getting outside too much. Course, today would be a good day for that considering we finally got our only annual 1 inch dusting of snow. Yeah, we are in a winter wonderland now! Every citizen in Arkansas literally mobbed the grocery stores as if they were preparing for nuclear winter!
