I ripped my pants while attempting a new PR
I just finished day 2 of WM today, and I felt rather energetic and not tired at all at the end of the session. I had 100kg (225lbs) on the squat rack, so I thought, lets try for a new squat PR. My last 1RM PR was 90kg, and that was months ago. So I pscyched myself up and went ahead with the squat.
I went down and I think I just stopped above parallel before I came back up. Disappointed with myself, I practiced without the bar and tried to use some landmarks to tell me that I have hit parallel. So I tried again after a couple of minutes rest, and this time I think I made it, but after I racked the weight I just didn't felt like I squatted at all. There was no feeling that I did any work. So I was wondering if I did indeed hit parallel. My femur was probably just parallel to the floor on this rep. I tried one more time, and this time as I went down I heard a loud 'RRRRIIIPPP', but I went down just a little more before moving back up. This time I think I was at least anterior thigh parallel. Again it didn't felt like I squatted when I racked the weight.
I did quite trusted anyone in the gym to see if I did hit parallel. I tried another time, but with a medicine ball at the bottom, which was just below parallel when I sat on it. I went down this time and again 'RRRRRIIPPPPP'. This time though I ended staying down after touching the ball. I look at my gym shorts and I think the hole just got a little bigger.
I was starting to get irritated with myself, so I rested for a while and reracked the weight and attempted one more go. This time I'm pretty sure I was about to touch the ball before I drove the weight up.
However, I just feel that I can't chalk this up as my new PR. I wish I had a camera then to see if I made it. And I wished I hadn't squatted so wide... Never had my shorts rip like that before.
