Modifying my power cage. Suggestions needed please.
I have a ‘typical’ power cage that I’d like to modify if I can. Right now it has the typical provisions: adjustable safety stops, adjustable barbell ‘hooks’, and a pullup bar (front upper cross member). I’m looking for either an attachment or a way to modify the current pullup bar to allow me to do parallel grip pull-ups also. Anyone know of anything, or am I best of coming up with something on my own and have a local metal shop fab something up for me?

I usually use a V-grip for a cable station, over the bar to do parallel or neutral grip pullups. No modification required.

Get a couple of metal pipes and lash them across the top, parallel to one another. You can use those long velcro straps from Home Depot/Lowe's or even bungie cords. No need for a metal guy.

I also use the V grip from my cable station, and just loop it over the top of the bar. Make sure you let go of both sides at the same time, or your head is in for a nasty suprise.

I use the v-grip too. Works great, but listen to Bulking Up.... that gets nasty.

I took two hockey stick shafts and laid them across. I do not tie them down as I like the instabilty, so I need to pull smoothly and consistantly with both hands/arms (btw, this won't be so good if you are really heavy, they may not hold your weight.

along those same lines, I often use 2 oly-bars placed on the safety rails for dips... i s'pose if you're not very tall, you could raise the rails as high as they go and do pullups too.

Thanks for all the great ideas guys, I appreciate them. I've got some extra sections of piping in the garage. I'll see what I can come up with.
