Default Modification to 3x8 chin-ups

I'm doing Level 2 of the DB/BW Fusion workout. Workout A, Superset 2 calls for 3x8 incline press paired with 3x8 chin-ups. Since I can't do even 1 set of 8 chins (typically I can only do 6 in one set), I decided to split this up into 2 sets of 4. So I did the incline press, then immediately did 4 chins, rested for 30 seconds, then did another 4 reps. I then rested for 60 seconds and repeated the entire superset.

Do you think this was an acceptable modification? For progression, my goal is to decrease the time between the sets of 4 during the next 4 weeks.
