A squat done incorrectly put me in a world of hurt, but I also tweaked my back a bit lifting a max.

As dumb as it sounds, Christian Thibaudeau uses them. That doesn't mean it's easy or that everyone should do it, but at least it's not completely stupid.

I wasn't saying the exercise was stupid (although I wouldn't ever do it), what stuck out to me was how much of a hard time this guy was having with it. The barbell was falling all over the place, his stance was all wrong, his arm wasn't on the pad properly, he kept catching one side of the bar with his non-working hand, fixing it, and trying again to complete his first rep.
It was just funny.
