Getting my blog on...
I finally joined in the fun. Expect lots of random diatribes, epiphanies, and biomechanical geekiness - beginning with this one.

That video is pretty gruesome! As someone who has blown out her ACL, it gave me physical pain. I totally agree with your comments about dysfunctions being perpetuated. Great "article" as usual! Thanks Eric!

Just put it in my bookmarks. Very true first entry Eric! Basketball players seem to think getting stronger and functional isn't going to help them, so they lift for vanity (if they lift at all), just working the mirror muscles, making the problem worse!

Great first article. Take a look sometime what the players lift at the NBA camps (similar to NFL combines). It's amazing how weak so many of these star 'athletes' actually are. Makes me wonder if they are afraid of losing their shot or quickness and just skip training b/c of it. Where are the professional NBA trainers in all of this? Shouldn't they be explaining that resistance training can make you quicker, stronger, and more durable? IMHO, durability should be the #1 goal for training in the NBA. 92 game season + playoffs is a lot for a body to take.

That's great Eric! I love reading your stuff, I always learn something that will either help me right now or will inevitably help me in the future, whether it's in my career or in my own training. I really appreciate everything you share with us, and I hope you continue to share with us until I either die or surpass you as a coach:p just kidding
I'm excited for this.

Top notch stuff. I have a friend who coaches HS basketball and I'm going to email him a link. Thanks, Eric.

Either:
1) Handicapped by a hopelessly retarded certification organization (that will remain nameless) that overempowers athletic trainers
2) Handicapped by the poor culture of the league (guys blowing them off)
3) Handicapped by their own inadequacies as a coach
I know of three great coaches working in the NBA who can't leverage their abilities because of the hoops through which they have to jump.
