Well, if Thibaudeau did it, why Can't we?
Well, my cousin read the other thread that I started about Ian King. He's convinced to try and find another way to workout. Ultimately he discovered Thibaudeau. I told him that he didn't built up his body using the splits he now advocates. Instead, he was skinny as a teen and then he started olympic lifting and that's what built up his body. Then he said to me "If he did it, why can't I do it?". I started thinking about it and he's right. However, I have no idea where to start with olympic lifting. All I have now is CT's black book which has a 12-week beginner olympic lifting program. I'm thinking of the EFS manuals. Also, another example of a guy lifting for performance which built up his body is Dave Tate. Any inputs?

If you want to learn olympic lifting and lifts, I'd highly suggest finding a coach who knows how to perform/teach these lifts. Based on your location I don't know if you're going to be able to find one. Did a quick Google and found a DVD that teaches them, at http://www.completeolympiclifting.com/ . Unfortunately I don't know much about Latif Thomas or Patrick Beith (Athletes' Acceleration, Inc.), but they do have an endorsement by Lee Taft on their site if that means anything to you.
Edit: Found their Bios --- http://www.athletesacceleration.com/aboutus.html

In the Dan John Video: http://thefitcast.com/?p=108 DJ shows how to properly do some oly lifts. It may be helpful with teaching.
BTW its in the second half of the video.

Deadlifting and Squating would be just as good and easier to learn, throw in OH Pressing which used to be the 3rd Powerlift and you're all set

My upper body blew up when I started doing more upper body stuff like incline presses (various heights), arm work, and some pullups. I didnt really do them because they werent necessary for OL but I like having strong muscles in general and like to look better. Additionally, from a functional standpoint, its useful to take a break from OL and do BBing stuff.
You will not look like CT in his after pics because he did do more non-oly stuff. OL will get you big legs, nice traps, good shoulders, and decent forearms. The rest you have to make up with other movements.
Get a coach if you dont know how to do these lifts and go religiously for a while before thinking you can reap the benefits of these lifts.

Apples and oranges when comparing to the Oly lifts. "Just as good" in what respect? BTW, my man Pyrros Dimas is pretty jacked....in anybody's sense of the term.

Strongmen are pretty jacked and they pretty much get that way with the 3 old powerlifts, squat-dead-OH Press

I do SM and we do a lot more than that. A lot of them do various types of presses, tons of rows, lower back work and others even do direct trap work.

Strongmen come from a HUGE variety of backgrounds....PL, OLY lifting, even BB'ing....can' generalize like that. If you were a competitive SM and these were the only lifts you did, it would be safe to say taht you wouldn't be all that competitive.

echoing your other thread. lift something heavy, it'll get you closer to "jacked" than the nothing that's going on right now.
buy practical programming.

It does not mean that if someone has done it, you can do it or should follow. We may never fully know what one person does 24/7 and always looking to mimic someone-else or chasing the "in" program is just not right. Every program should be first tailored to correct your weaknesses/ imbalances and suit your training goals.
I learn this the hard way but maybe you're younger and experimentation may indeed work for you.
