Default Best College in Kansas City for HFI

I'm about to ove to the area because of all the great MMA and Strongman stuff going on there. I'm not really finding crap through online searches. Surely somebody on here knows first hand or from a bud. I've finally caved in and said fitness is the way to go. Don't know how much money I'll make on the side as compared to fixing computers but it fits with my main interests, fighting and strongman competition.

as soon as I can, probably not for a few months though, it keeps getting pushed back, who would you say is the best for a 2 year fitness degree, and I'm wondering to myself why you never see any real strongman gyms, I think ATP in Mass is the only one from what I hear

let me look at that tomorrow. i know names, but i want to see what they have, and then i can rank them for you. I'm two hours down the road in CoMo (from KC) but we don't have anything but physical therapy. which is stupid, because i would love to take some exercise science classes.

boy, I looked online through the community colleges and umkc, and there's nothing.

you may want to explore KU. Lawrence is now considered part of the Kansas City metro area, and they have some exercise science programs.

I live in Lawrence and I'm actually employed by KU. What does HFI stand for?

KU does not offer any kind of associate's degrees, to the best of my knoweldge. I've known some people in this department, though: http://soe.ku.edu/hses/

And they seem to think highly of it.

I know a couple of these guys, too:
http://www.imartialscience.com/

They are very, very smart.

I know one other guy who trains people in some old, shelled out warehouse. No website. He is one baaaaaad dude, but I didn't even know he did that until I'd known him about a year or so. He's very discreet. Apparently, he is very well respected in the field. The IMS guys know him well.

But overall, what you are talking about is not something I know much about.

I'm just sort of debating whether I need a 2 year 'Health & Fitness Instructor' degree or something else

Whether or not there's a good 2 year deal in the KC area would play a big part in that choice

I've also been meaning to ask.... where is there anything strongman in Kansas City? I surely would have heard of something.

They have 8 contests in the area each year that count as qualifiers for Nationals. Check these guys out here: http://p070.ezboard.com/bkcstrongman

KU has exercise science programs. A number of them, I believe, including Masters programs.

But, they don't offer any two year degrees. It's possible that if you have a college degree already, you could hop in and do a masters which would be 2 or 3 years.
