I read this in the product thread over at T-nation. . . . . . and it really, really baffles me to be honest with ya. There are warning labels all over the can, so its not as if the kids would not have known that these are pretty damn potent. . . and the gym owner is 100% right that we have the mentality that if one can is awesome. . . . shit just think what two cans would be like.

But on a tangent why would this energy drink be any different than any of the large espresso-laden coffee drinks that are made at Starbucks or other large coffee shops? I don't work for one, or have done any research on these but I'd have to assume (I know that's dangerous) to think that these have just as much caffeine in them, or more as the Spike Shooter. . . . and think of the people who drink 2,3,4 of these a day just to get through the day because they are so hooked on caffeine. OH NO! We've got to close up coffee shops and not allow kids to drink coffee. . . .

Give me a break. . . as with anything, people just need to use their heads and consume caffeine, among other things in moderation. Amazing concept I know!

a bit of a rant, but watching the news clip, and interviews kinda fired me up.

Interesting...good find.

Is the T-Nation world in a buzz?

I like it when the fat girl said "I'm fine with Mountain Dew." Uh, no you're not.

And what a joke, it's just like when ephedra got banned, people think if one is great then ten must be better. Idiots. Pretty soon they're gonna try to ban energy drinks, but coffee, beer, and cigarettes will still be abused freely.

On another note, Doherty High School was a rival school of mine (I went to Coronado H.S., in Colorado Springs), doesn't surprise with the type of kids at that school.

At least they are overdosing on Spike rather than something much much worse, like meth or heroin. I hope they don't take it off the shelves. This actually might make more people buy it, to see if they are tough enough to handle it. The more media coverage, the bigger the sales I'm sure.

This is probably great news for bio-test. So strong, it's been banned!

Personally, I don't think it's any stronger than some other energy drinks. Those warning labels are there for hype as much as anything.

I agree, I think its great for Biotest. I have one can of Spike in my fridge from a seminar. Still haven't needed to use it. I used Spike caps every day though.

Funny, I use nothing but whey protein mixed with water before a workout.
I must be really stupid and weak not to use something to give me that extra boost.

They shouldn't sell these to kids under 18 the same as Redbull, etc. In the last few articles over at t-rag, John B and some other guys go on about how they are on a road trip and the only thing they take is some Spike. It that is to keep them awake during the trip they better start catching up on some sleep. Let's just promote the shit out of something that isn't good for you from a site that is trying to make you healthier.

I used to take a bunch of caffine before a workout,

Then I found out that without it, my workouts sucked.

I stoped it all togethor, hardly have any caffine at all. Now, 200mg will get me jittery easy if I do use it.

that's what got me. according to the newscast I get the equivalent to a "spike" before I head out to work in the morning (three cups of coffee). not dead yet...soon. is 711 going to put warnings on their big cups? sign a waiver to get a "vende" at starbucks?

hell...that's not a bad idea. start up an "X-TREME COFFEE" shop. no one gets served without a consent form

Hey, there's a convenience store chain/gas station around here that sells "Extreme Coffee!" Extra caffeine, yohimbe, etc. Big bright label on the carafe and everything. Funny.

Admittedly, I have not read these articles you mention. I am sure to the t-nation gang, that sounds bad-ass, but if they are true, am I the only one who is disturbed by the possiblility of such a statement from someone who has a doctorate in nutrition?

mahler, you have to be kidding me.

Spike has 4 days worth of your protein, carbohydrate and omega 3, 6, 9 and 12 fatty acids. One spike, and you can act like Naomi Campbell.

What a bunch of garbage, and at upwards of a buck fifty a can. Biotest will sell you 24 for forty bucks.

One can of Spike and you can act like a consumer who has just been scammed.

I'm with you on the cost, but that's pretty much the cost of a typical energy drink at the store, anyway. This just gets you home delivery, too.

I don't know the name, but if Ninja ever drank it, it would be like the Ghostbusters crossing the streams. That would be bad.

Wow, just compared SPIKE to red bull....8oz. of spike is equal to almost FOUR red bulls! (caffeine)

It is a must that me and my little Scottish friend try that concoction this weekend.
