Mahler’s Monday Morning Motivator # 76 – Our Deepest Fear

Good Morning, Guys,
Update on Steve Vaught, The Fat Man Walking. He is nearing the New Mexico border and has walked, thus far, 590 miles. Visit www.thefatmanwalking.com to check his progress.

This morning: Week 2 of Mike Mejia’s Scrawny to Brawny Phase II. Gotta love those front squats, 5 x 5 x 175 today.

I came across a speech given by Nelson Mandella at his 1994 inaugural in Johannesburg, South Africa. It really hit home. Sometimes I think we hide our light under a bushel, to quote the biblical expression. We fear that who we are or what we have accomplished will put others off or make them seem uneasy around us. This little excerpt says just the opposite. Often times, we can empower others by using the power that radiates from our own lives. I am not talking about boasting or bragging, but about the natural display of our work, our abilities our passions. What others see in us can be a powerful incentive. It doesn’t pay to “play small.” Here is what Nelson Mandella had to say.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our darkness that frightens us.
We ask ourselves; who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of your creator.
Your playing small doesn’t serve the world.
There is nothing enlightening about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are born to make manifest the glory of our creator that is within us.
It’s not just some of us; it’s everyone.
And when we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others”.

= = = = = = = = = =
Just remember to take pride in every step, but to seek humility in the journey.
Have a great week and let your light shine.

In Fitness & Friendship,
Mahler

It's a good quote, but Nelson Mandella wasn't the one who said it. In fact it was Marianne Williamson. FYI

Nice one John, sorry I'm a day late. Under the weather yesterday.

Yeah, John, with a year and a half of them, it's about time for the compendium.

At least, lets see if you can give them to JP and get them all in one thread, maybe stickied and read only.

[/quote]I am actually considering putting them in a pdf format and making a book of sorts. Anyone with more computer/internet savvy than I, please let me know your thoughts.
