looking at the next 2 weeks of work-outs for tbt and could use some alternatives. bb curls, skull crushers, db upright rows, external rotation, yet even more calf raises....seems like a bunch of isolation exercises that im not interested in. could anyone suggest more compound movements.
so far im not a big fan of these workouts. i wasnt thrilled with nrol either at first but it worked. on tbt im leaving the gym with alot left in the tank.
That's a little vague. You want alternatives to the ones you posted?
bb curls, bb bo rows (supinated grip)
skull crushers, close grip bench press
calf raises, siff lunges or split squats
db upright rows are compound already
external rotations are more about keeping you healthy
Don't you get to pick your own exercises for TBT? Try flipping through the book and picking out other compound exercises. Or look online for variety.
As to having more left in the tank, perhaps you're not supposed to kill yourself in the gym. But, maybe your exercise combinations are not taxing enough.
What a negative Nancy. If you are doing his workouts with the right weights and you feal like you have anything left in the tank, you are either not telling the truth, or not using enough weight. And why do you have to look on it so negatively, that could be zapping your progress. No one is forcing you to do anything, if you dont like them, dont do them and dont complain.
The isolation exercises have their place, Id love to see you try a full body day with 6+ multijoint exercises 8 sets of 3.
And anothing thing, really drop the 'tude man, every thread you start hear is just you bitching rather than asking for advice. The calf post for instance, Chad is a trained professional and a pioneer in the industry, not to mention one of the most common names in the biz. You basically say I dont want to work my caves, why should I, we tell you why and you respond with and I quote
"i was pretty clear i could care less about what my calfs look like. this isnt about ego and staring at yourself in the mirror. i work out for myself, nobody else. thanks for the comments but i will just replace the calf stuff. unbelievable replies, really."
Why they hell even post the question then, or this one for that matter, you arnt going to listen and you will just insult us for trying to help.
To everyone else, Im sorry for my attitude but Im sick of people coming on the board to bitch and wine and ask for advice just to say "no Im gunna do it my way" then start similar threads.
Not to pile on, but I'm with TheSteve on this one. If you don't like CW's workouts, don't do them. But then again, if you make these adjustments you aren't doing them anyway. Like he said, Chad is a sharp guy who writes workouts that get results. If you aren't getting the results, you either aren't following the workout or you aren't pushing yourself enough.

TheSteve slam dunked that like d wade running through the lane. If you are leaving the gym with something left in the tank, then up the weights. You say you weren't thrilled with NROL but it paid off in the end.
My advice for YOU is to do the program as prescribed. I'm going to be doing this program after LFGB and something tells me I am not going to have as much left in the tank after my workouts.
Are you doing cardio on off days? TBT did get program of the year over at t-nation, so plenty of people have done it and loved it. I can't wait to do it next!
I dropped the single joint moves for more compound moves. Add in either Military Press and pull ups/chin ups or Arnolds with lat pull downs.
I am doing TBT with 6 compound moves 3x a week I go with push pull moves on my legs (Squats/Deads and variants) push pull horizontal (Bench/Row and variants) and push pull verticle (Military Press/Pull up and variants). If you follow the proper weight, rep and rest times you should have very little left over. I barely get through with cardio at the end of the workout.

i posted it because i wanted alternative compound exercises as opposed to calf raised every day if the week. i suppose though, anyone who has to put the word "The" as a prefix to their name is so self absorbed that actually reading the post would be an interruption to your ego. you dont know how or what i lift or do on non-lifting days. very difficult to accept an attitude comment from "The" what a dick. im sure chad waterbury didnt develop these programs without fielding legitimate questions about tweaking the programs and offering alternatives. you want to act like your some kind of expert, oh im sorry "The Expert"; go right ahead. in fact shouldnt you be at the gym standing in front of a mirror? My God what a baby.
whitty reply. im sure waterbury will be pleased to know that arrogant c**s like you are running HIS customers off of HIS board. go pose for yourself little boy.
How bout instead of calf raises you substitute them with jump squats, depth jumps, or plyo jumps. Then you can see if you have any gas left.
I, for one, was suprised you said our responses on your last post were "unbelievable". I didn't see what was so unbelievable about them, just tryint to tell you the benefits of calf exercises. What don't you like about the workouts? Just the workload? The exercises? The changing rep schemes? Maybe it'll grow on you like NROL
I'm sorry, I couldn't get past jvernacchio's avatar...what were we talking about?

Lost Dog had a good post that I believe answered the original question. In the mix of inflamatory post there was also some honest discussion. If this thread continues to devolve into petty name calling and an internet pissing contest it will get shut down. Everyone here likes to train, my suggestion is that we get back to it.

I second this motion!
