EDT on same days as B-Ball Games??
Starting on tuesday I will be playing 5 on 5 b-ball for intermurals on Tues and Thursdays at night.
My question is, which do you think is better?
Doing my EDT workouts the morning of my games (9am, games are at 8 or 9 pm). Or wake up at 7am the morning after game nights and doing EDT.
SO basically should I do EDT and b-ball on same day (about 12 hours apart) and take the whole next day off, or alternate days?
Thanks,

I used to do a tough workout in the morning and then a long TKD session at night; it was manageable. Just make sure you're packing in the calories throughout the day and are on top of pre and post workout nutrition.

hey kevin, I like doing workouts and playing basketball later in the day. I like giving my body a day off. But the truth is, it wont make that big a difference either way, I would just do whatever is more convenient and allows you to get more sleep. I am also starting intramural ball this coming week and working out 4-5 days per week oly lifting, plus two hours of jiu jitsu. We're young, if we eat alot and get sleep we will be fine
You dunking yet? and how tall are you btw?

I would bet you would be recovered enough. Most of overtraining and such is neural and basketball is not going to be working the same mechanisms of the brain.. Just makes sure you eating tons of food everyday.

I wouldn't if you are required to perform at a high level. If you're just playing for fun then I would see no harm in it (assuming you do as others have suggested and pack on calories). I think a leg dominated EDT session would certainly slow you down or rob your vertical though.

Works for me. Reminds me of why it was so easy to eat as much as I did in college and never go over 5% bf! Jeez, that much activity would drain me today.

Why not through a weekend workout instead of Wednesday to give yourself a break? If that's not possible at least make Wednesday an upper body day.

Sack up and train on the weekends, dude. Train Sundays and take Mondays off, for instance.

I ran on Friday night after I had an early morning session of EDT and it was the worst run I have had this year. Just felt sluggish and had no energy even though I was really pschyed up to run. Then again I am quite a few years older than you and your recovery time might be shorter.

Basketball + Lifting don't mix well. Don't do it back to back, that's for sure, and if you do, lift first otherwise you are likely to cramp during lifting.
I'd say this:
M - Off
T - BB
W - EDT (upper body if you can)
Th - BB
F - EDT
Sa - Off
Su - EDT
I play in rec. leagues regularly and lifting kills my game (temporarily). So, I workout around my basketball. I'd rather perform well in basketball for the team, than lift a little better for myself.

Good advice. For instance I workout on weekend and usually try and take Monday's and Friday's off.

Dude, I know you've done EDT, saying that I couldn't imagine playing B-Ball the next day... the soreness would make it impossible to do perform. Eat a lot, get your rest and sleep, and as gobba said, do what is important first... it's like trying to lose fat and bulk up at the same time... sometimes you just gotta prioritize

I do my basketball tuesday and thursday and lift M-W-Sat. BUT, one day I was in on Friday to do my Saturday workout since I was going out of town and I had just done my deadlifts when some of the guys came and asked me to play. I thought it would be a disaster since I figured my legs would be shot. To the contrary, it was the best game I had ever played.
Not sure what the lesson was there, but I have always wondered whether I should do a set of deads before every game!

You got your posterior chain firing before the start of the game! You might not always want to do deads, lol, but you would probably benefit from a pre-game warm-up that included some glute activation work.
