when doing pinch grips, does it matter if the weights are all seperate plates or can I connect them with each other so that they don't slip out of my hand. Is the main purpose to hold the plates together or holding as much weight between the dumb and the other fingers without letting them fall down?
I hope you guys understand this a bit.

You want them seperate....you need to produce more force to have enough friction for the plates to stay together.

Or you could use a car jack to help with your squat....

The point of plate pinching is to train your pinching grip strength. You want to take at least 2 seperate plates and hold them together using your thumb on one side and the tips of your other fingers on the other side. Start by using two 10lbs plates and then advance from there.

And when you get really strong you can hang from the floor joists in your basement and do pullups.
