Default How and Why of Foam Rolling?

Are there any good sources on the what, why, and how of foam rolling? The websites I can find seem more interested in selling foam rollers than anything else.

Thanks

Start with Feel Better for 10 Bucks by Eric Cressey. Usually I ignore the forum posts at T-Nation, but in this case Eric answers some questions that you might be interested in, so skim through the posts too.

Take a look at this Roller Guide for some more information on how to foam roll.

A foam roller is just one of several modalities for soft tissue mobilization. Reading about soft tissue mobilization might give you more of the information you're really looking for. Here are a couple of articles about trigger points that don't specifically mention the foam roller, but the foam roller could be used and the information is relavant. Think of the foam roller as a simple and effective method of self massage.

Here's another article I like:

Self Massage Tips by Krista-Scott Dixon

Here's an interesting forum discussion of foam roller styles and when to use the foam roller:

Yeah yeah . . . "Foam Roller" ranks up there with "the" and "weight" in the search 'round here.

Thanks again Lisa

There has been more than a few questions about foam rollers in the past. Perhaps a sticky.

Here's a quick thought, a forum devoted to stickies answering questions to repeating topics?

Fitness FAQ - Your fitness questions may already be answered... Read these first! For questions NOT answered here please post in the TRAINING discussion.

Most people are too lazy to search and read the subforum descriptions though. (Not implying anything about the original poster or Cynic.)
