I finally convinced my wife of the benefits of turning our second bedroom into my home gym!!

I've seen plenty of links to great/affordable power racks and barbell sets, but I haven't seen any for a flat/incline bench to go along with it.

Does anybody know of a good bench for a good price (preferably with free shipping too!)??

Thanks in advance for the help!!

Drew

I bought a bench/110 lb weight set a few years ago in a local sporting goods store. It ran me approximately $100. After adding on in the weight department (added 2 50lb, 2 25lb), I've probably spent $150 on weights and the such.

If I were buying a bench today (and I might be looking to upgrade...especially since I want to get a 300lb olympic set), I'd definitely look for an bench that could support an olympic set.

If you find anything, post it here.

Man, maybe you want everything brand new. Since Phaedrus49er told me about craig list, I've been visiting it daily waiting for what I want. They have tons of benches in Dallas and you just have to pick it up. Today I found a deal on dumbbell weights in NY, check it out. Too bad I already have plenty.

Here is the list of benches on your area.

If you're getting a power rack, a bench to go with it would be a utility bench, like this one.

That one doesn't have the leg attachment to do leg extensions or leg curls, but i haven't used mine in over a year since switching to compound movements. There's just no need for me. You'd just stick that in the rack when you need it and take it out when you're done. Because you'd be using the bench with the rack, you won't need to worry about if it supports olympic sets as it won't have any supports. You'll just use the powerrack to hold the weights.

When I bought my incline/decline bench, I did not think of the obvious query - how many different incline or decline positions does the bench offer. The one I have offers 3 settings for each, and I found these very limiting.

But I use clamps with bricks, etc. to make the angle I want so it still works the way I wished an incline/decline bench to work.
