Default Question about ABBH

Finishing up BBB and getting ready to start Anti-Bodybuilding Hypertrophy.

In the workout logs, the exercises are preceeded by "A1" or "A2". I'm assuming this means the exercises should be done as a superset (i.e do one set of A1 followed by one set of A2, followed by A1, etc.)?

I couldn't find this anywhere in the book, probably because its a stupid question (!)

Has done ABBH before? It's going to take a lot of discipline for me to follow it to the letter; i've never done only two exercises per session. I'd be interested in hearing other people's expereinces with this program.

Also, seems odd that in the book Chad states total body workouts are best, yet this program seems to be built around body splits.

Looking forward to starting it: In Chad We Trust!

You are correct about the supersetting.

One set of a1... one set of a2..
do all the sets

move to B superset.

Im not sure about the rest.

I did ABBH earlier this year and LOVED it. Don't underestimate only doing two/three exercises, because you'll be feeling it. . . .especially after the 5x10 days if you use proper loading. I'm finishing up BBB on Tuesday and will be starting up ABBH for the second time the following Monday, and I can't wait.

Also Chad advocates using upper/lower splits to get used to a higher training frequency (if you haven't already been doing this) and he gradually will increase volume and/or frequency in progressing through his programs. Not sure what template you're following but BBB/ABBH are the only upper/lower splits in there.

Do you have a training log here? If not you should start one. . . mine is titled This is my Muscle Revolution.

Good Luck!

-Matt

Thanks Frank & Matt.

Matt: I'm following the template for muscle gain/fat loss. What kind of gains did you get using ABBH? (i'll check out your log)

Also, just noticed that this is an every-other-day routine. I've only ever done 4 day a week and three day a week routines. Should be interesting without the weekend break!

two things. . . . I did ABBH like late January/February and I was a newbie then so I gained something like 12-14 lbs during the 6 weeks of ABBH.

My log right now could be misleading, but I'm coming back to training after suffering an injury during the summer, then an INSANE semester at school. But all is good now and I'm just concentrating on strength, I know that if improving my numbers is my number one goal everything else will fall in line.

It's a long journey to where I want to be, but it's going to be FUN!

*also you can make ABBH a two on, one off program. . . . that's what I did, or you can make it whatever fits your schedule best. Good Luck!

A1, rest 60s, A2, rest 60s, A1, rest 60s, A2, rest 60s, etc.

You must rest between A1 and A2. The same is true with B and C pairings.

You can use an assist machine or a band to lessen the weight.

I either do the assist or do chin ups. I can do 10x3 with bodyweight. But, I'm a girl. It's a great feeling when they start to work for ya!
