Im 16 and have been doing weights for about 6months. I have improved alot over the 6 months and can lift more than most the men in my gym. I have been told though that it is unhealthy at my age to be doing such heavy weights, but i have also been told that it will not not affect my growth. I am confused.

No, you are not too young.. I would recommend that you lift lighter weights and keep your rep range higher. I would try to stay in the 10-12 range for reps with 3-4 sets.. You should be able to finish your last set, before going up in weight..

The idea being that you are building the strength in the tendons as well as the muscle, helping everything to develop together..

Dude,
Lifting with heavy weights is not unhealthy. It would only be unhealthy if you use don't properly do it and try to lift a weight you can't do just to impress someone.Lifting I believe will increase growth.
Question for you though is how big are you.If you can outlift most of the people in your gym
