What are all the parts of the body that underhand pull ups work on?
And which muscles does it focus on?

Are wide grip pull ups all that bad for your shoulders?
I do wide grip pull ups on the Modular Assist Chin/Dip machine where i can do 12-15 reps without struggling a lot. I do this for my Biceps/Back day.

First try this link to learn more about the primary, secondary, and terchiary movers for this motion.

As for the wide v narrow grip, I actually don't go wide any more. Usually about shoulder's width. Reason? I may be corrected in this, but even as a rock climber, I can't think of a single thing that a wide lat pull transfers to. It is an unnatural position that puts too much stress on the shoulders.
