1000 posts! Already? already!!!

This is too fast for me! LOL I usually celebrate and look at how things are going at anniverseries.. That would be like in 10 months! but this IS my 1000th post, and this IS a tradition.. so I'm happy to participate.

After a mis-fire that lasted a week in september, I finally said hello in the Off Topic section on October 10th in the "Ahhh! This is the place!" thread : mentionning mostly "I have an awful lot to learn but I hope I also have things to offer." and that is still how I feel.

By the amount I post and the threads I join, you'll easily have guessed that I feel like a kid in a candy store.. reading about all the fitness subjects covered here.. and the logs!! so inspiring and full of treasures!! But I’ve also discovered the people.. some people I really like an awful lot, and there are some budding friendships that really warm my heart. But everything is still too new, only time will tell if they florish, so I’ll keep that subject for maybe an anniversary.

If in my posts on training I talk about myself alot.. please understand that it's not because I think I'm better or more special than anyone here, far from it! It's just that experiences and annecdotes is mostly what I have to offer for now, and I offer them with the best of intentions. I don’t believe in oneway relationships.. so I give what I can. I still hope my posts have some substance, but I well realise they are often too long, my fast typing tends to have me rambling very easily. I hope it doesn't cut me off from valuable conversations.

As for what I read.. I'd like first of all to thank everyone who has written in my logs. The encouragements, answers, conversations, comments.. I have appreciated them SO much! At work and causual encounters, most of what I get is "Are you sure training like that is good for you?" " or "You're too old to do that, you'll get hurt" or on the other side "You're lucky, since I turned 40 I can't do anymore of that stuff" " or "You're lucky, ‘cause me since I turned 50 I'm just getting fat, I guess that's life, nothing to do about it." So when people here have encouraged me to continue what I'm doing.. or noticed that I DO work hard to have a reasonable fitness level, it really makes me feel good about what I’m doing.

In the threads all over the forum and in the private messages, I have found wonderful people with such interesting things to say, and a willingness to share and encourage. This is a great forum and I hope it will continue to develop as THE place to be to talk and read about fitness..

And well Gobbla.. I want to specifiquely thank you for all your inspiration, guidance and patience and sincerity from the very beginning, in my logs and elsewhere. I really appreciate it.

I also want to mention those whom I haven't talked with but post such excellent information and those who posted info a few years ago and we have to search the forum to find your postings. Thanks for giving the forum such a strong backbone!

Sincerely,
Mary-Lou

Unless this is your hobby.

But then, maybe you need another one.

Maybe there should be a rule about the 1,000 posts needing a 6 month minimum to earn the right to do a special 1,000 post topic. No "Johnny come latelys."

Way to go, Marykaa.

I remember that when I first joined up, you were fairly new, too.
You're at 1000, and I'm not even at 30!
I've found your posts to be good reading - keep it up!
(Now, if only I could get to 28 or 29 posts...)

WOW! That was fast, MK!

Congrats on the milestone. It really helps to motivate me when I see individuals older than me with activity levels and fitness goals like yours. (And, many others around here.) Age truly becomes just a number. You've overcome a lot in your life, and for that you should be proud!

Here's to the next 1000. (As long as it doesn't happen before I reach 2K! DOH! )

No fear Mary Lou, the boys are jealous about your committment. I for one enjoy when you chime in. Glad to hear this place is such an inspiration to you like it is for so many of us.

I think this deserves a beer and a hockey game...in true canadian fashion.

BOND lol thanks! but no threat.. I'll only be celebrating anniversaries from now on.. and not more than one a year.. But believe me.. I have great respect for the first #1000 members.. so you.. with your little #86.. you can guess what I think LOL

TIN MAN... héhé! nice save!

I only watch the finals when the Canadiens are in them.. (read: watched it alot when I was young lol) but there are 8 TVs in the cardio section of the gym.. and I think a bunch of guys actually come do spinning just to watch RDS (sports channel) that they don't have at home.OL

so hockey keeps them in shape

here's my contribution... Chimo!

Congratulations, Mary-Lou! You'll be at 2000 posts by Christmas, no doubt.

Thanks much for sharing your stories, your experiences and so much of yourself. I still enjoy looking around your photo album. It's a delight to have you as a friend.
