On what I can do with this to set it up so that when I can't get to the gym I can still workout. Right now my oldest is sick and I doubt I can get to the gym this week, that just won't do. I have to be able to do something with this mess

Looks like you have enough there to do rows, presses, some kind of DL, lunges. The space is a little tight. Do you have attachments for the cable station for pulldowns?

Jenn,
My workout space is only about 8x6 ... I have my elliptical in the other room along with my foam roller and yoga mat ... but on this 5x7 green rug in our boiler room (we heat with wood as an add-on to our oil boiler ... and yes, it gets very hot in there!) I have my set-up ... I can do nearly any type of exercise, but I have my rack on an angle (the blue thing is some sort of water tank or something for our well) ... I've gotten so I can do cleans and presses in this space ... although I haul the oly bar in the other room to do any complexes ... to do pullups I put the bar on the highest pin in the rack and use that ... the space is tight, but with two little kids I don't have a choice but to workout at home ...
So I guess my suggestion would be to take everything out of the room (that is moveable) and put back in the things you need, being creative with placement to give you the most "use-ability" ... put the things you don't need/won't use elsewhere ...
Just superset 1 minute of high intensity cleaning with Pulldowns, lunges and Push Ups and by the time the place is clean and you're ready to workout you'll be done
Gobbla That was how my Dad cleaned up the workout space for me LOL. So now I am going to clean it up. The Cable station is great bc I can do a lot of stuff for my upper days, such as lat pulldowns, tri pulldowns, rows etc. The other station is the one I really want to use, but the racks are against the wall and the bench can not be moved out of the way as it is one unit. So unless I squat straddling the bench it ain't happening. I have about 3 feet beside and in front of the cable bench for doing bulgarians and I think I can manage deads in the little area in front of the benchs. I took those pic's sitting on the dryer and standing in the little space leading to the cold cellar. There is very little room there. I have to figure out a better way to store the weights and figure out what do do with my mom's gigantic unused stability ball. I was thinking I could switch the two stations around maybe and that way I could maybe turn the racks so that I can use them. Maybe. What do you think?

Thanks. I need help switching the stuff around bc I think I'm going to have to lift the one station over the other one

Love your set up!!
I wish I could chuck a lot of the stuff out of there but it isn't my stuff and it isn't my house so I have to be careful or my parents will be mad.

Looks like they don't use any of it
What about moving the bench with the squat rack so that the rack part is not up against the wall ... then you could use that for all sorts of stuff (even using the bar for pullups and such) ... maybe tuck the other stack into a corner so you could still access it if needed, and since the bench is moveable, just keep it out of the way until you need it (that's what I do with my bench).

In theory that would be ideal except there is no where to store the bench
Really!! Its a bloody mess down there. I son't know how they can live with it! My guess is by keeping the door closed. My mom stores all kinds of stuff down there, did I meantion she has a shopping addiction

It all sounds good. It's all just a matter of how much space you can create though. The biggest thing in my mind is having some free space so you can do "something" with a degree of safety. After you see what you've got to work with then you can make a better judge of what you can do.
Really, the next question is "what do you *want* to accomplish"?

What I wnat to accompish is an area I can squat and deadlift with enough room to do that. The cable machin if I could I would get rid of. However even though he hasn't used it in about ten years my Dad will not give it up! The room in the pic, ya thats about the space I have to work with, tiny I just wanna work out. My parents are packrats. It is so sad.

I know! Isn't that totally sick! I think I have something semi workable now. I hope. Now I just have to dust off the equipment and give it a try. I think I may get sneeky and try throwing things out a little at a time. Do the old do you need this? Hope they say no and pitch it before they can change their minds! The thing with the new set up is that I have to make sure I don't leave my squat bar racked or someone (me) will get clotheslined going to use the washer and dryer hehe.

RedLefty's parents basement is in similar shape...just bigger!
I've told him that as the oldest son it will be his responsibility to clean out their house when they go. Which means that it will be my job...so I am going to bulldoze the entire house! Not kidding!
I'll post pictures when I'm all finished. Funny you know this is the same equipment I started training on some 16 years ago. I think that when I moved when I was 19 I was also the last person to use any of it . LOL all I keep thinking while cleaning off the stuff and trying to maj=ke a workable set up is Dr. Frankeinstein- IT's Alive!!!! hahahaha.

not telling you to do this, but we move more often than normal people. When ever we move I date a box. If it gets opened and used then I scratch out the date. After 2 years if it's not used, it's tossed in the trash. My wife would save every damn thing we ever got. I'd be living on blow up furniture eating spegetti'o's. That's my compromise. Don't tell her though. God knows what she'd suddenly need that I threw away four years ago.
