PM AJ Roberts here. or, maybe he'll post here. Those guys at IG are some of the nicest and most knowledable group you'll find in the PLing world. They are college kids who hold more records than a lot of big gyms.

Just did, thanks. I am beginning to rethink this. Since I have about 6-7 weeks, Im thinkin maybe it would be wiser to drop to the 165 class while trying to keep if not add some to my max. If I can hit only 5 lbs more and hit 500 at 165, it would be 3x bodyweight which is my real goal, more than a croncrete number. At morning empty stomach weight, I am 173 an dwas tested at 15% bf. Im begining to think it wasnt that off, so if it was correct, I can drop down to 9% and weigh 165 without even cutting weight. I used ot wrestle so I know all about dropping weight. Got lots of thinking to do, once my lot of thinking and testing is done.

Wouldnt worry to much about dropping weight.. Just train hard.

In powerlifting nobody really seems to care about what weight you do anything at, its all about how much you move. I really think in a few weeks if you incorperate a bunch of speed work and use a belt youll be good for 540+ on a third attempt.

I dont really agree with that. Thats why they have weight classes. I dont want to be a big guy, I want to be a strong medium guy. I find beeing strong pound for pound as impressive if not more than total numbers.

Im not saying its a bad approach, but its not looked on very much in powerlifting. In most comps they dont announce weight classes or anything, they are just a side thing. Lots of feds are just using 3 weight classes now (especially smaller local meets) 181-220lbs is common.

Damn, thats a freaking broad class. This one is gunna test the water for me, but you cant take the weight dropping wreslter out of me, just part of me. If this all goes well, I will try to hit another show, then take time off to get up to the 181 class and try it there when Im in my 21-22. Ive got alot of goals to do, and they all dont revovle around getting huge and heavy. Not yet at least. Would love to experience all I can, BBing, Strongman, Before I graduate and start training others. My main goal isnt to be an athelete, but a trainer/coach. This is learning for me.
