Default Ryan - good luck tomorrow!

Ryan (ryan122185) competes tomorrow (Friday) at noon in the 2006 American Open Weightlifting Championships in Birmingham, Alabama. He's had to qualify for this meet and hopes to beat his previous personal bests. I think his goals are to snatch 90kg and clean & jerk 115kg.

Good luck Ryan!

We'll be with you in spirit, cheering you on!

There are some really good videos of his lifting posted in his log: Ryan's Olympic Weightlifting: Journey of 62 kilo lifter

Have a good time Ryan, and rack up a few PRs while doing it.

3 for 3 on Snatch (77,80,82) All very easy but 82 was a 3 kilo competition PR. 1 for 3 on the C&J. Got called for a pressout with my 104 opener, came back nailed it second time, 3rd time I went for 108 nailed the clean, but botched the jerk.

Finished 9th out of 13. Probably the most inexperience lifter at the meet... with only 5-6 months of lifting and 3 competitions.

My coach was pretty conservative with my lifts, the goal was to get me a good experience at a national event. Ill post my 82 snatch it was an easy lift.

The big stage is awfully intimidating. In the spring at college nationals. I will be looking for (95, 130). Possibly as a 69 kilo.

I bet the big stage was intimidating!

Congratulations on the 82kg snatch! Easy huh? It wouldn't be easy for many of us!

Sounds like it was a good experience for you. I'm looking forward to seeing the video of that snatch.

Great videos as always. That snatch did look easy! Your 104kg C&J looked solid too. I love hearing your family cheer you on, lol. Was that your sister's voice?

I hope 104 was easy I got 108 a month ago...but for me its timing issues on the jerk. I can clean 115+ ... I think the person on there was a girl from the club i lift for...we couldnt afford to fly my sis down.
