I have always wanted to squat 300 lbs. Ever since I was my scrawny little, old self.
It's been a mental game as well as a physical one.
I've been eating right, gaining weight and really going balls to the wall on my training so tonight, I thought I'd give it a shot. Last week I did 270 for 8 reps.
I was confident! I was pysched!
It was 2 sets of 8 reps.

1st set - hit the goal of 300 lbs!!!!!
2nd set - I felt so good and pumped, I put on 320 lbs.... 8 reps, full, parallel squat perfect!!!!! And fairly easy!!! I'm, well... I can't explain it. I'm happy! Thrilled!
Next... I will squat 400 and before 2006 is over. I swear that to myself....
Thanks for reading this and sharing in my success.

Awesome work dude! Great inspiration! You'll be at 400 like ::snaps:: that

Great to see results isn't it? The way I figure, you are right on top of 400. If you really wanted to go after it, a month or 2 cycle of working down to a single would make it history and 500 would be the new goal for 2006.
You added fifty pounds after just one workout, without decreasing the amount of reps? Is that even possible..

I didn't think so either. I figured 30 lbs was pushing it but I felt good.... When 300 went so easily I figured, why not? Worse that could happen is that I made an accordian of myself.
Yep, 50 lbs increase. I'd been pysching myself up for 2 days for this one. I know it's been a huge mental block more than anything.
Rock n roll, my brotha! That's a kickass improvement and quite an impressive achievement! Like others have said, 400 will fall soon. (And Buk is right... switch to a lower-rep cycle for a while and it'll drop real fast!)
Thanks everybody! I can barely get to sleep I'm so pumped! Boy oh boy.... my legs are already starting to hurt. I fear tomorrow and Thursday. in a good sort of way or course.
Relish those DOMS mate....you can enjoy them cause you've earned them!

I know, I know... it's that mental block thing. I kept telling myself I could do it, but I didn't believe that I could. That makes a huge difference.
Now, I've had that same kind of block on flat benching 250 -300lbs. I think I'll give it a shot.

Now, I'm certain with enough pumping myself up and really believing I can do it, that I could put up 250 lbs. It's all about breaking through that imaginary ceiling.
Thanks again for sharing all your comments and praise.
Dag...look at all the fun I miss when I have the PC shut down for one night!
Terry, that is so awesome!! I have to say though...I knew you would be able to do it And you were still able to bust out 8 reps! Great job! You will definitely be able to do 400..and I'm betting it will be way before the end of 2006.
Thanks Mahler! I hadn't used one of those to figure it yet. That's great. I think I'll give it a try in a couple months or so with some more building up/less reps. I'll be finishing CW's TBT in about 3 weeks and then I'll mess around a little with maxes before I go into cutting.
If my memory serves, I'm not sure I could bang out 8 @ 320 back when I first broke 400. I'd bet if you concentrated heavily on squatting bigger weights at fewer reps you might hit 400 by next February. Heck, if you pinned your ears back you might be able to get it by New Year's.
Chris: Iowegian? That rocks! I think I'm going to start using that!

GR, sorry to chime in so late here, but a hearty congrats from me too. *high fives* You have blasted through this goal big-time and I hope it gives you the confidence to know you CAN attain any goal you set for yourself. Don't be so nervous about 400, bro. It's seriously within your grasp. Thanks, as always, for the inspiration. Your gains both in size and strength over the last few months continue to impress the hell out of me. Nice one.
