Default Dan John squat video, wow....

...have I really been squatting wrong!

I was wondering tonight when I was squatting why I was having trouble getting deep and also why my knees were bothering me. After watching the video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...01858251744&hl) I can see what I was doing wrong.

As he was going through some of the exercises he was teaching (goblet squat, potato sack squat) and I could go so much deeper, and could probably squat a lot more than I was this evening before the video. I did notice my hips are pretty tight still, which I am working on. I also noticed that when I was squatting previously, my lower back was feeling it. When I did what he showed, I didn't feel it in my lower back.

It will be interesting to see how i feel on Friday when I squat again (I am doing TT) to see the difference with weight on my back.

It's exciting to me when exercise technique clicks for someone. Good for you. I'll be interested to hear your report on your Friday squat session.

Lisa,

My hips are pretty sore right now....well not too bad, but I can tell that they've had a good workout. Hopefully I will be able to do more weight and avoid any knee pain. The joys of weight lifting!

My hips were pretty sore after that video. Get's better.

I've been doing the goblet squats at least a couple time per week, and my regular squats have deepened.

I've only watched ten minutes and I'm hooked, I can't wait to watch the rest.

I dont know if thats the same video but on the fitcast interview with Dan John he mentioned lifting the toes during squats to keep on the heels. Been doing that ever since.

VIDEO

direct link to the video for whoever asked.

its 400 megs but the quality in the dled version is MUCH better.

edit for the mods, if posting that is against some sort of copyright law just remove the link. its from the google server and not the fitcast one.
