Default Gotta Be the Same 45's Plates

Is anyone else very anal besides me regarding using the same type of 45 lb. plates when they train? For instance, many older type gyms will have different manufactured 45 pound plates (20.4 killo)...they maye vary in thickness, texture, and sometimes (yes) weight. I search hi & lo everytime I deadlift, press, or squat for the same plates.

Am I superstitious?

I just make sure they are the same on each side. The most inner plate on each side has to be the same, 2nd most inner has to be the same.. and so on.

I cant stand it when they are different. My gym has grey and black plates.. I will search the gym to find matching ones.

I do the same thing. That is, when I get my sorry ass in to lift. I could never get over when I see someone lifting with a 25 on one side and two 10s and a 5 on the other. Just something wrong about that to me.

I agree ... and they all have to "face" the same way ... ie on my plates at home, there is writing only on one side ... and the writing has to all face out ... otherwise it just doesn't look or seem balanced!

I have two different kinds of plates at home, two being type A and four being type B. Type A has a larger diameter but a thinner width, and is a solid piece (no holes for gripping it). Type B is smaller, wider, and has holes near the edges for easy handling.

I HATE type B. Why do I need holes in my plates? I don't. That's why.

I was very angry when I went into the store to pick up my second set of plates just to find that they were different then I ones I already had.
I asked, "But sir, why do these differ so?" and Mr.Salesman said "These are the new style, it's all the same thing though."
No, Mr.Salesman. It's not all the same.

I always put the old ones, the bigger ones, on the inside and the smaller ones on the outside. That way the outside plates are raised off the floor and are easier to take off, and it looks balanced.

The plates at my gym though are all the exact same black rubber plate. I like that the plate is rubber, but what I don't like is that the hole is rubber. It's impossible to slide these plates on and off the bar, especially when on the ground. And because it's so impossible, the gym decided they don't need to supply collars. What's up with that?

You just need to come to my gym where all my iron 45 lb plates look the same. I can't really make fun of you. I have some tens that don't match and I can't use un-matching ones. I'm definitely anal about my gym layout. I have things pretty balanced.

My gym has old rusty ones and new shiny ones. I don't care which ones I use but they must match.

They both have to match...probably a psycological thing though, when you get right down to it.....oh ya, writing "outside" on the plates...

As far as which way the writing goes...

Its: First plate on the writing faces inside. All other plates face outward. Yes, it has to be this way

Ha, ha. That's exactly the way I do it, man.

Also, when I buy extra plates they have to be the same manufacturer and color. All black with white lettering. no holes. Old style plates.
