Default PR: Bench Press

No I wasn't maxing out, but Friday (the day after my bday) I was doing bench and asked one of the other trainers at work of a spot. He said he didn't help me at all and encouraged me to up the weight and just lift to failure. Well I lifted as much as I ever lifted before (185) and for the most reps. I used to struggle doing 2 or 3, but Friday I banged out 6 reps of 185 lbs. (that was immediately following 165 x 10 a couple seconds before).

Can't wait to try to max out this week.

It's amazing what a little encouragement can do. That's why a good training partner and good lifting environment can make such a difference. Good for you!

Good work, Keith. Those "best I've ever done" are always sweet. Now imagine working out with more than 200 all the time!

Good work man, keep it up. Warning: Once you discover ME (max effort) work, you will be hooked. Well, only if you like getting stronger anyway!

I agree, knowing you are not going to make the gyms "stupid list" for dropping 185# on yourself helps you focus on the matter at hand.

Nice lift Keith.
