I'm a little drunk *thank you NATO job* so disreguard if it doesn't make sense.
I get a little miffed at the expected ass sucking of the experts. A few people (galya, lisa, gq, of the top of my head) are more than adiquite if I have a question and don't ask or expect crap in return. They are willing to help and encourage any poor bastard that comes along. I respect them ten times more than any sum'bitch that "demands" respect for their time. Again...it's free...I know it's free, so do fucking you. If you don't want to be a part then don't >period<. We're all grown ups.
It's especially annoying with authors are active on other public forums, but badmouth forums in general. IMO we have the best damn fitness forum on the whole freaking internet >period<. If you don't want to be a part then whoop dee freaking do. Hawk your wares somewhere else.
A big "thank you" to the experts that are willing to deal with us low lives whenever we have a question or a problem (lisa, galya, tony-g, gq, dos, mike, john) the rest of ya'all.......yeah.......

I dont know exactly why, but ive always looked at this forum as very different from the "standard" forums. In a good way Theres not alot of flamming here, everyone seems to act kind of mature.
EDIT:
and yeah, what gobbla said.. only in a much less drunk way.

I think JB has some valid points, and I don't think he's discussing this forum at all.
When Bill first introduced me to JP-Land, I figured it was just another internet forum that a lot of people hung out on. However, I was instantly amazed at how calm, cool and collected everyone was; it's almost a shock when there's any kind of disagreement. You have to admit, that's pretty rare for most internet forums.
Honestly, I'd have to say this forum is one of the exceptions to the rule - it's almost like a club where people know that if they're invited, they need to be respectful of everyone else involved. We all come from different backgrounds, have different goals, and want different things from our training. But the cool thing is that everyone here seems to get along and sincerely wants to help others achieve their goals, no matter what those may be. That's just one of the few reasons I keep coming back.

Hopefully the experts get something (from a biz standpoint) in return. I just bought Bill's DVD, not because I really need it (although I probably do), but strictly because he was so nice with his time at the retreat and on line here. Now I need to find time to watch it and start using it. Also, I have been using everything I learned from him at the retreat about my flexibility shortcomings and it has really benefited me. So the least I could do was order a product of his.

Could write a lot on this, but I'm kind of strapped for time.
Basically, I see the forums as a way of giving back just like I would when I work with a young lifter. People looked out for me when I was a beginning lifter - and I was a forum guy first-and-foremost back in the day. I think it's a bit different for guys who didn't come through the system with the internet in place. Us younger guys have really been able to use it to advance our careers, not detract from them.
Additionally, I'd like to believe that it comes full circle. I know a lot of people have bought Mike and my DVD because we've helped them out over the years in one way or another on the forums.

I have to agree with JB ... I have belonged to other forums ... and left for the exact reasons he specified ... not only fitness forums, but other things as well. That is exactly what I love about being here ... people are respectful, but still allow their personalities to shine through their posts ... there is comraderie, support, help, friendship, teasing, etc etc ... and the experts are beyond words ... it is amazing to me that I can post a question and Lou Schuler might answer it!!! Very cool ...
And .... I found JP's forum via a link over at JB's PN forum for the NROL section ... (I think it might have been Cynic that posted it?)
