Default Orthotics

I fractured my talus and the aside from the fracture the x-ray showed 'spuds' that could eventually turn into arthritis. So my podiatrist decided to get me orthotics. Is there something I should know about them?

I think he is a good doctor when it comes to medical stuff, but he is no 'movement specialist'. He told me that lunges are bad for your knees and there are better ways to build the quads (leg press).

Orthotics, use them or not?

Why don't you go to a rehab doctor or a foot doctor for a second opinion?

The orthotics are probably a good idea.

Lunges are not bad for your knees. Bad form is bad for your knees. The people who see doctors and say that lunges hurt their knees had bad form, right? The guys who did them well and made good progress never went to the doc, right?

Good idea. Though it costs I might still do it.

Thanks.

You don't need to convince me. I was a bit outraged when I heard him say it, but it quickly subsided. Of course, I did not argue.

I wear a pair of 600 dollar orthotics in my shoes and I love them. Well....need them.
