I don't currently use Surge at all. I use whey and Gatorade pre workout, during workout, and post workout.
Surge should be considered a workout drink, not just a post workout drink. Even over at t-nation, a lot of the authors suggest a 1/2 serving prior to the workout and another 1/2 serving pwo for a lot of their routines.
Truthfully, I don't know that Surge is that much more superior to Gatorade and whey if the rest of your diet is good. The big benefit to Surge is that "fast acting" protein. But, I eat protein all day, every 2.5-3 hours, so it's already ready. Doesn't need to be "fast," IMO.
If you're a pizza, chips, fries, and other crap eater all day, then Surge is probably better for you. Not you, specifically, by the way. Just an expression...
