Need a gym in Toronto
Anyone know of a good gym in Toronto? I'll be there most of next week and would like to find someplace that would let me buy a week membership or even by the day. The hotel says there is a Y close, but I'd like to find a place with more than one squat rack/bench.

I think there's some Turbulence Training guy that has a gym up there, Craig something or other...

I am staying near the airport and actually working in Mississauga, but I don't mind driving a bit if I need to. I only have one late night I will have to work, other than that I'll be done at 5 every day.
CB's gym would be cool, but I couldn't find much info on it, and somehow I doubt they'd let me just pop in for the week.

I'll get Russ to check this thread... He lives there and really likes his gym.

There is a gold's gym within driving distance from there (15 minutes though). I don't know the exact address though.
Sorry!

Where in Mississauga are you working?
I live in Meadowvale, which is in Mississauga, so I might know of some gyms for you to use.

I am staying at the Holiday Inn close to 401 and Hurontario. I'll be working close to 401 and 19.

19?
The collective intelligence of myself and mapquest only know of a 19th street on Lakeshore, which is nowhere near the 401. Is there another major intersection in that area that you could give me?

Oh jesus. I live right in that area. In fact when people ask where I live, I say Winston Churchill and the 401. Where is it you're working?
There is a new gym, just finished this year, called Premier Fitness. It's in Meadowvale Town Centre at Winston Churchill and Aquitaine, you can't miss it. I've never been inside but it looks pretty spacious, and I think I saw more than one powerrack through the window. It's a five minute drive from your work. It's two floors, with cardio equipment on the top floor and machines/free weights on the bottom. That's all I know about it.
There is a YMCA somewhere in the Square One area. Just west of the mall, according to the site. That one is closer to your hotel.
There's also a Gold's gym at Dixie and Burnhamthorpe.
I'm sorry but I haven't been inside any of these, so I can't give any opinions based on experience. The only gym I've used is inside Meadowvale Community Centre. It's really small, with only one squat rack and limited room for free weights, but I go when it's empty with maybe three other people present, two of which would be on the bikes.
Hope that helped.

I just wanted to take a min and thank you guys, especially Matthew, for all your help. I had a great time up there and found a good gym. What a nice city (with very nice looking women.) I need to go back sometime when I have more time to explore.

Sorry I missed this thread, but glad you found a place to train. My gym is located in midtown Toronto (Yonge and Eglinton), pretty far from where you were working

its actually a pretty boring city if you live here all the time :P
Yeah the Gold's is located close enough to the airport so its a pretty good location. I train at school downtown so I really dont know how the other gyms in the actual area are, though I have good things about the Premier on Winston Churchill but I mean especially for a week I am sure you are motivated enough where you can workout anywhere so the Gold's should be perfect.
