was gonna cross the road, a car came and slammed right into the side of my foot, i flew back, ambulance came and brought me to the hospital. long story short. Some tendon that stabalized my knee has nearly been torn, so i have to keep my left leg in "braces" for atleast 6 weeks.
I asked them at the hospital, they said i can work out, just nothing that puts a load on the foot. So if anyone can suggest some BW exersices, or whatever. I just want to keep the muscle loss to a minimum. I guess i can do pullups, situps.. stuff like that. I can also move the foot at the hip like abduction, stuff like that (dont remember all the fancy words)
I think i heard something about if you keep exersicing one legg, the other one wont loose as much muscle because the body tries to keep it equal, or something? could that be correct?
The biggest problem is that none of my pants fits over this brace thing, so i either gotta go pantless to school tomorrow, or dont go at all.
Should i maybe have posted this in the injury section?..

Yes. You could do stuff like pistols, single-leg leg presses and glute ham raises on a stability ball.

I have been hit by cars twice. It is not fun. Especially at about 35 mph and you end up in the passenger seat. But..I invested in sweat pants that were huge to cover a cast in the winter and had my gf of the time take in the waist so they fit. Not much exercise help but the same as fishr, good luck and don't be afraid to take it easy.

and yeah, kilt would be a good idea, not taken into consideration that its like -10 celcius up here this time of year :p
and yeah i know :p Karky, Kar-key :p
I just gotta say, it was some scary shit. It could have gone much worse, as i was thinking as i was getting tossed into the air.
If your knee is affected, the swelling will "shut down" your quad ... a good exercise to keep the quad functioning is a "quad set". With your leg out straight in front of you (on the bed or floor) contract your quad (the effort is like you are trying to push the back of your knee down into the bed/floor) and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat often in sets of 10. You can do the same thing with your hamstrings (keeping the leg straight though, don't let it bend) and glutes.
These will also help with the swelling ... along with active movement at the ankle ... just slowly bending the ankle up and down.
okay thanks alot. Seriously, you guys are the best! I dont know what i would have done without you.. get hit by another car?
Im abit afraid of flexing the quat on my injured left foot. since if i flex it it does kinda go over the knee.. which is the injured part.

I'm not really sure what you mean by this ... the knee doesn't move in the quad set exercise ... if you injured one of the ligaments that crosses the knee, by keeping the knee still but contracting the muscle, you will not injure the ligament further. Here is a picture ...
no surgery requiered. I was lucky, if it had been the same kind of tendon on the other side, it would have requiered surgery. but thisone will heal by itself if i keep the foot straight. I think it was the tendon on the outside of the knee, had it been on the inside, surgery would have been requiered.
If i remember correctly now..
since im trying to keep the muscle loss to a minimum, should i do low reps? most BW exersices, like pushups i have to do at higher reps, but for stepups (i do them only on the non injured foot) i could add weight to make the reps lower. Also, im sure if i wedge my feet under my desk and use this dresser thing to lie on i could do some hyperextentiones, i dont have to bend my knee so i could work the hams on the injured foot aswell, normally ive always thought of this exersice as something you do with high reps, but in my case would it be a good idea to add some weight and do lower reps?
