Question

A friend of mine just finished running her first marathon. Now that she has completed it she wants to back off and just do half marathons while focusing back on her weight training. So we got to talking about her program that she has done with a personal trainer for nearly 2 years:

2 times/week
Day 1 - Chest/Bis/Tris/Shoulders
Day 2 - Legs

I am little concerned that her trainer isn't giving her very good advice (no back!!), but I've never really looked at weight programs for runners, much less women. Should I be suggesting that leaving off an entire muscle group is a bad thing or am I off base thinking she needs to keep a balanced workout like everyone else? She has this amazing drive and motivation to workout. I don't want her wasting it with an incomplete workout program.

Thanks,

Unless she has injury issues, I would just train with a basic program. Get strong, maintain lean mass, lose body fat, and train any weak or neglected areas as a priority.

Depending on the exercises used in the above, the program could be okay or poor.
