I actually do my squats...then squat jumps...then lunges...then split jumps.

Actually if one were to average one sec per rep it would be 84 sec. The way the time can be manipulated to be faster(shortcutted) is with the jumps and the depth.
|
I still don't see the 84 sec.? There should be 24 reps of each and every exercise....just that the lunges end-up being 12 on each leg. That comes to 96 reps....am I missing something? I only mentioned the dunce cap thing in hopes that someone might actually show me a human doing the full ROM matrix in 90 sec....it would be worth it.

I was just wondering the rationale behind doing them in that order instead of doing the more explosive movements first or progressive from most to least difficult. Is it some kind of mental focus or exploding or balancing under fatigue thing?

I got the 84 sec. from 24 squats, 24 lunges, 24 split squat jumps, and 12 squat jumps.
If you go 24-24-24-24 then, yes 96 is correct. The one I was referring to when I mentioned Carlos was the 24-24-24-12 one.
There is NO question about it, 24-24-24-24 CANNOT be done in 90...IMPOSSIBLE.

I just paired each movement squat-squat jump...lunge-split jump. i think you're toast regardless of the order but i would figure the easiest one would be to do the jumps first (while you actually can).

Just to add to my earlier post.
While I tried my darndest to keep good form, fatigue inevitably let me down. If I felt that my next rep was going to suffer technique wise, I paused briefly to regain conciousness, er, I mean my breath, and then carry on. To be fair though, in this particular matrix it was getting very tough to do good form from about the lunge onwards
One side note though. Even though I know how tough this was, I am looking forward to doing it again. Rather than simply go through it to see what it was like, I made the grave error of actually timing myself. This means I now have to do it again to beat my time. But the great thing is the pay-off you get from over-coming the mental toughness of it. I find the same with hard HIIT; sometimes I get up to do 4 rounds of intervals (60s sprint, 120s recovery) and I am just dying and a part of me is saying "stop - you're mad" and another part is urging me on to overcome the inner demons. By the way, why doesn't HIIT training get any easier?
Thanks to Dos and Chaney for the interchanges; I've enjoyed reading your posts.
Ian

Here's some times for you guys: I just had college-level baseball players do a couple sets of 24's (24 half-squats, 24 squat jumps (butt to ankle), 24 lunges, 24 split squats) after 45 minutes of weight training. First set, fastest two guys were 1 min. 50 sec. After 2 1/2 minutes rest, we did set #2 with emphasis to do it under 2:15 without compromising form as best as possible. Set #2: three guys done at 1:45 and about 7 more done in the 1:50 to 1:55 range, and all 26 players done by 2:07 (even the fat kid!). It would be damn impressive to see someone conquer the 90 second mark with full ROM.
-Dustin
Btw, Dos- it was Margis and Eveland flying through them.

Thanks Ian. Please be aware that during this thread I was also referring to another version of this leg matrix and to not be confused by that.

Yes, I understood that Chaney, but thanks for the clarification.

1 min 50 sec after 45 mins resistance training. That's insane, but then coming from a 40 something who's aerobic qualities rank alongside that of a tortoise with arthritis then I guess anything better than 3 mins looks good.

Today I did the 24 rep for all Matrix after doing Alwyn's Fat Loss II in 1:53. My wife did it in 2:28 (proud emoticon) Had to stop once for a second during jump splits but otherwise kept 'er steady.
No way someone does this in :90.

Holy hell, that's impressive!
After FLII workouts I'd try the "walking to my car" matrix and it would take me more than 4 minutes.

I hear ya Red, we should be provided with those Wal-Mart carts after Alwyn's routines.

This thread still boogles my mind. After a heavy squat session I have to wait before I go home because the clutch in my car is to heavy to push.
How the hell are you doing this after training???

Chaney, you're killing me here. If I felt I was going to hurt myself during my admittedly ugly performance of the leg matrix I would have stopped.
Aside from that, my form on the jump lunges was a little off, but since it was my first time doing them, I'll let it slide. I'm sure it'll look a bit prettier next time. I was really in too deep to do those jump lunges consistently well...my own damn fault for neglecting that sort of thing.
I'm glad that folks other than those on my own forum (the Power and Bulk) and the other forums I post those vblogs to are getting a kick out of them. If you enjoy watching a grown man suffer, look at the first iteration of the "Shafquadstack" vblog....that hurt (as in lactic acid burn hurt), and caused a deep and lasting DOMS.
I'm a bit out of my own stomping grounds here, but thought I'd reply, since my name was brought up.
Thanks to Alwyn for putting that up on his blog.
And thanks to Dos and others for their comments.

You must excuse Shaf, as he has spent far too many days away from weights and has taken to viewing manotaurs on teh interwebs.
