I remember first hearing about Dick Hoyt in the 80's when I was living in Boston and he was already a fixture in that marathon. Over twenty years later I still get inspired every time I read something about him.

A true hero.

I just read about this guy in an issue of runners world. It makes you think twice about not meeting your own goals for some flimsy excuse.

The dad in me had a lump in my throat as I watched that. The exerciser in me vowed to try to not let another excuse cause me to miss a workout. Thanks for posting that Dos.

Wow. It's amazing what the need to bring joy to your children can inspire someone to do. What a true hero, a great dad, an inspiration for all of us. That was a real tear-jerker!

I found my eyes watering up and I don't have kids to relate the story to me.

However, it makes me think that not all vegetative states are truly so. I'm thinking we need to determine how a brain is damaged...if it's only motor control as in Rick's case or complete cognative ability.

However, I'm stepping into the CE area now and that's not the purpose of this forum.

There wqas a breakthrough using brain scan interperative software recently...were a woman in a "total vegetative" state was able to communicate with the researchers...really opened up a major can of worms.
