Why does fitness and having a good body have to be so cerebrally intensive? I'm reading all the posts of guys diets and routines and they seem like serious math equations and science experiements to me. Can anyone break things down simple and just tell me how to be thinner? LOL!!

The body is not simple and hence changing it is not simple. That is why fitness is so cerebral.

Thank you gregl515. That's what I'm talking about. No seriously though, I just didn't know if it was going to take me doing some serious figuring in order to get into better shape.

If you want to be serious about getting into better shape you have to get serious about what you know. If not....

Eat a little less, lift heavy things.

lol...I'll give you simple terms to steer you in the right direction. This is VERY simplified and aimed at general health. The more you study and fine tuned you get the better results you will get but here,

Nutrition = eat all natural foods (fruits, veggies, poultry fish beef etc) and drink mainly water, 3 main meals a day with one snack inbetween each meal.

Fitness = begin a basic full body 3 x week resistance training program. begin a simple cardiovascular program such as jogging, duration 30 minutes, 3 x week.

You don't sound like a guy that wants to count his calories, if you begin this program and aren't making your desired fat loss results and still don't want to keep track of calories...run faster or longer.

Simple enough?

Pitbull,
I agree with you about some of these programs being so complicated. I have been lifting for over 20 years and anytime I see a program with 20 different exercises and ten different rep ranges, it just turns me off. Here is an article about an extremely simple, but effective workout.

I like the fact that it is "cerebral" and that one can always learn more about it. Otherwise, it would become quite boring.

As you lift more your improvement is more gradual which means you have to do different things to improve and the process becomes more cerebral. When you are just starting out a full body workout and eating clean will take you a long way.

yeah , I'm starting to get sick and tired of fitness!! my schoolwork is really suffering under my 'fitness lifestyle'. And so is my social life during the holidays. On workout days I always stay home because I need my cals. and on off-days I simply don't follow my diet.
This really sucks! Never thought I would say this but I'll be glad when school starts again.

It's just like everything else. First you get into something and want to know as much as you can, overdosing yourself w/ info and not focusing on what is really important. Eventually and hopefully you find the key points, focus on them and reap tremendous benefit, and then begin to reexamine the glut of info available and expert analysis begins to actually make some sense and be applicable.
