pretty much the same as the 5.0 but with a lateral velcro strap...
got them at the nike outlet for 35.00 and they were out of my size in the regular 5.0 running ones

I wear 7.0 (I think) for women. When I received them in the mail, I thought I was going to have to send them back b/c they were soooooo tight. Now I wear them without socks and they are great!

A few of you mentioned gettign a 1/2 size larger - did everyone find that worked best?
I normally wear 5.5, which is hard to find for the frees. A 6 would be much easier to locate.

I would say if you want to wear socks you should get a 1/2 size larger.

Keep looking - you'll see some on clearance. Even Nike.com has two colors for $58.

I'm getting really tempted to bite at the sales, as I'm in somewhat need of a new pair of sneakers. To those of you who are free owners, what is the difference between the 5.0 and the 7.0. Does that strap really do that much?

Basically it goes like this
5.0 - least support
5.0 trainer - a little more forefoot support because of the strap but still relatively little lateral support
7.0 - more lateral support because of plastic insert on side
I still havent decided whether i like the 7.0s better than 5.0s though

I have the 5's I use them for most things in the gym.
They are really nice. But I am concered about wearing them out of the gym because it looks like they would wear out fast. They still dont beat CT's for wide stance squatting or sumo deads though.

do you have the problem that when squatting in the 5's your feet sometimes roll out a bit since there is really not much support. This happens to me sometimes, and i was wondering whether it was a biomechanical problem or just normal

I'm thinking about getting a pair for running. Which type would be the best for that, or does it matter?

I'd like to pick up a pair of the 7.0 most likely. I'll just have to wait until I can find a pair in black on sale. I need a pair that is mostly black so I can wear them for school. Otherwise, I can't justify spending that much money on shoes that I'd rarely wear otherwise. Once I get home I'm barefoot and I lift at home barefoot too. I'd like them to be able to wear almost everywhere else tho.
I was looking at a pair of the black with the green accents. It looks like half of the shoe is black and the other is grey. Its hard to tell because I've only seen the one side of the shoe. My buddy has a pair of the 7.0s and half is blue and half is black. Is that the norm for all the 7.0s? Half one color, half another?
Thanks for putting up with all the questions :p

All the 7.0 pairs I've seen are two-toned, yes. Maybe the Nike website can let you customize some for $120, though.

I found a pair in my size for less than half price - but they are bright orange. Great price, but not very stylish. I also found a pair of trail running shoes for the same price, but not sure if those would be as good as the other models.

Success. . . . gotta love the Nike outlet's. I picked up two pairs today for like 55 bucks.
I got one pair of 5.0's and a pair of the 7.0 trainers.

I highly recommend these shoes as well. Although i do not work out in them, I have a pair of customized 5.0's for casual and when training clients...a pair of 7.0's for work. May be placebo but I do feel a bit more stability in the ankles from wearing these. I workout in hightop Chucks for the albeit slight high ankle support/proprio feedback.
