Default Dumping Weights

Hey guys, I was reading jennmedic's log which made me realize I don't know if there is a way to properly dump weights. Obviously you'd want to not hit yourself but I'm thinking of not injuring a muscle that is obviously fatigued. Is there a correct way to dump a collared bar while doing front squats and back squats? What about doing overhead presses with DB's or bench presses w/ DB's? Thanks

For the DB presses and back squats you can get a spot. If no spot, just drop them for the DB presses, but that's quite a drop for overhead presses, I'd recomend trying hard not to drop those. For the squats (front and back), just use the safety pins at the right height and lower the bar to them.

Of course the answer would be that simple...sometimes I think I need to stop reading about fitness and injury prevention b/c I start to obsess about doing things "right"...Thanks Jason.

I see nothing wrong with droping weights if your lifting on a oly platform with rubber weights. I know I do it all the time. I dont have any real plan, I just let go and move out of the way.

Most commercial gyms don't have rubber weights or oly platforms and frown upon dropping weights. The practice is as annoying to gym owners as curling in the squat rack is to us.
