Well I have enrolled in the 911 fitness challenge with two additional teammates. The goal is to gain muscle and hopefully lean up. I have been following the HGM since May of last year and I have been very happy with the results. I started at 192 lbs at 18 percecnt body fat and I am now 195 lbs with 11 percent body fat. Since the contest requires me to add muscle mass will I be OK to stick with the HGM and just eat more? I have been using fitday since May and I have got a good feel for what my body does with a certain amount of calories on a weekly basis. I plan to increase my calories to roughly 3600 per day to gain additional muscle while sticking with the HGM program. I would hate to abandon the HGM program since I am very pleased with the results I have earned to date. Any comments would be appreciated. I am currently in Phase 6 in the program and I am enjoying the challenging workouts. Thanks in advance for the help and if anyone has any information about the 911 challenge I would love to hear it.

Justin

HGM seems to be working fine. From these numbers you appear to have added a decent amount of muscle mass since phase 1. Phases 7 and 10 appear to be more geared toward cutting but 8 and 9 are all about size.

Well I finsished this 12 week deal today and I am a bit confused. I weighed in and out on the same scale and the same trainer checked my bodyfat with the same calipers. I started at 195 lbs at 15.4 percent bodyfat. Today I weighed 209 lbs at 14.7 percent bodyfat. With these numbers it showed I gained 14 lbs of muscle and kept the same amount of fat 30 lbs. The first 8 weeks I followed my HGM plan and ate around 3700 calories a day average. The last 4 I ate around 2600 calories a day and began to do intervals and bleachers along with the HGM. The thing that I don't understand is how my waist got bigger. My chest and thigh measurements both dropped buy my gut one went up by 9 millimeters. Overall the total was 3 millimeters less but I dont understand how the fat all shifted. Any thoughts?

First, congrats on the awesome results! Two thoughts: 1. It could definately be measurement error. 2. Regional fat storage patterns can be indicative of hormone levels--check out this article:

http://www.ruggedmag.com/index.php?t...ticle&i=4&a=4.

Changes in your diet and exercise (during the 12 week program)could have altered hormone levels, and, therefore, your fat storage patterns.

Hope that helps,
Jake

I took a week off before starting 8 and was sore the first week with those 8x3. I have just started phase 9 and done workout A and C. I really like HGM. Learned a lot from this program. Gonna go with GWE after this.
