Default Deadlift: oly shoes or chucks?

I've asked this in another thread before but since I have my meet in less then a week, I want some good answers So when deadlifting, is it better to use oly shoes with an elevated heel or chuck taylors? I've heard that oly shoes put you in a better position to pull, is this true?

Olympic shoes put you in better position to catch in the hole.

I like a flat sole to squat and pull, I would think it's a disadvantage to be put onto your toes when you want to drive through your heels.

Chucks for sure for the deadlift.. for the squat its debatable (I like them) but the deadlift they make you feel so solid.

For the past two years I have been lucky enough to workout in my basement so I lifted in bare feet. It was awesome!

Since we moved to PA our apt doesn't have a basement so I've been using the university gym and working out in the Nike Free. It is great. They feel like slippers.

goddammit :p I've been lifting in oly shoes for the last 3 months! I just hope it makes deadlifting in my chucks easier.

I do what Mike does and deadlift barefoot. But when I do wear shoes its my Nike's that have just the slightest heel, but oh so close to flat soled. I like them. I never liked deadlifting in my running shoes; it just didn't feel right. Go Chucks

I use my tennis shoes, which have a decently flat sole anyway, so it works out.

I just got some hi-top Chucks. I love them. My squats feel better, and deadlift was nice too. i felt like i didn't have to work to stay balanced...i simply was balanced, instead of fighting the lean forward from thicker heels.

I like the high tops too. Besides, they are Danny King approved.

I have a high instep, so low-cut shoes sometimes don't lace up tight enough and I can lift my heel out of them.

impossible with hi-top chucks
