Default Role Models and Self-discipline

So, I have been reading a book (Acctually listening, got it on tape haha)..

It's called "Neuropsychology of self-discipline", and one technique that they teach you is to find a role-model, for one of your goals, one of my goals is to have the body of an amatuer bodybuilder, I don't wanna like compete or anything like that, but it's just a goal of mine..

So, for inspiration to keep you focus they tell you to find a role-model, a person that has achieved greatness from very little, built himself up from the ground kind of deal.. After you find this person you are to read all about him/her, figure their best qualties, and then mimick them, find their faults, see where they got stuck.. So on and so on..

My problem is, I have no idea who would be a good role-model, and if you get the drift of what I'm saying, anyone wanna make some suggestions, any are welcome, and for this particular goal, I would like to see someone related to fitness, since that is my goal after all, but other successful role models are just as good..

Thanks guys..

Jaw> if you get bored just check out the training logs. there are tons of people doing amazing things.

gymrat, buster, hard rox, buk, kuri, bamadave, kmwest, mahler, ect, ect, ect.

if you're looking for a mentor...that's a good place to start.

When you say "read all about him/her," etc. Are you looking for a celebrity type?

Not to sound all corny, but I'm inspired by our founding fathers. It's amazing what some of them accomplished. The beauty is that there's a HUGE amount written on them.

Thomas Jefferson comes to mind. Benjamin Frankin, too.

Obviously, not the bodybuilding types, but heck, they were busy!

Great accomplishments come from inner strength. There's room for multiple role models. A lot can be learned from some of the giants of politics, the military, and/or business.

When I look for a role model, it is rarely anyone of celebrity status. My role models and heros for fitness are just ordinary guys & gals who hold down a job, raise families, go to school and bust their ass in the gym on a regular basis.

How about someone who taught you an important life lesson for absolutely nothing in return? Something that you have taken with you on your journey through life and it has stayed with you all this time?

My hero's are my teachers people who taught me to live life right and love education and learning for the sake of learning. They are undervalued, underpaid, and underappreciated in our society. Its a shame but the things they taught me helped me way more in life then any atlthete or super-star ever did.
