Default Creatine Question for competitive powerlifters or Olifters

Stop taking it a week out to let my weight float back down? Or just take the extra water out? Right now I weigh like 142 at night 140 in the morning. And I need to make 62 kilo/136.4 lbs,

Creatine isn't verboten in PL tourneys?

Well, it doesn't matter what I think. If they allow it, they allow it.

It would be the same if it were roids. If they allowed it for all, then the playing field is still even.

hahaha. Dont eat that can of tuna! it has creatine in it!

I dont think its going to make any difference if you stay on or not. 4lbs is nothing to loose. Search how boxers make weight, or even on elitefts there is an article somewhere on cutting weight for a comp.

It's not even really classified as a performance enhancer, more like a supplement. It would be like outlawing caffeine before competitions.

well, a lot of feds don't even test for roids in pling, and strongman. and even if they do, there's always ways to get around.

anyway, if it's 4 pounds, that's the daily weight flucuation for me. haha

There's pretty much no way to test for creatine use anyway. It's found naturally in the body and in so many foods, there's no way to determine if it's been taken in supplement form.

And like Frank and alco said, 4lbs is nothing, you don't need to change your creatine intake for that.

If you look at the list of banned substances from the NCAA sports, caffeine is on there. They do specify that it has to be in a certain concentration though.

Do you have a 24-hour weigh-in?

How long before the meet?

You don't have much working in your favor. Manipulating water intake won't do much, as you don't want to be very dehydrated at all the morning of the meet.

Up your fiber intake like crazy through the night of September 14. Psyllium husk, ground flaxseeds, and veggies are good. Less than 100g carbs.

In your last meal of the day on September 14, you'll want to take a mild over the counter laxative. Repeat it on the morning of the 15th.

Monitor your weight during the day on the 15th. You're still going to need to take in water, but don't eat anything that is going to stay in your system for too long. Keep fiber lower, and focus on protein and fat.

If you're more than two pounds over the night before the meet, knock back 10 oz of magnesium citrate before you go to bed. You can get it OTC in any drug store or grocery store.

You should wake up right on the dot - but you can spit in a cup if you're a little short. NO SAUNAS or dramatic water depletion.

After you weigh-in, start getting fluids back in you immediately - at least 1.5 liters in the first hour after the weigh-in. Don't push it to the point of discomfort, though. You'll probably want to go with some higher GI carbs with protein in that (1.5 liters of Gatorade with some protein would be good). Make sure you're eating regularly throughout the day.

Yes, it's fine. You've adapted to the intake now; I never drop it (and I've cut a LOT more than four pounds).

EC,

What do you think is a resonable amount of weight to loose for a 24 hour weigh in? I hear of guys loosing close to 25lbs at times! damn. Does it depend much on bodyfat at this point? or is it just fluids getting drained from your system?

I went 186 to 165.25 once. It sucked. A lot. More than words can even begin to express. I bombed out, too.

The heavier you are, the easier it gets. 25 pounds for a 308 is a walk in the park. It's hell for a 165. Anything over 10% of body weight is pretty dangerous.

I know of one guy who has gone from 195-200 down to 165 with a 48-hour weigh-in. He is nucking futs.

Body fat has very little to do with short-term manipulation. It's all about gastric emptying and, more importantly, water weight.
