I'm creating a new lower-Upper body 2day-split, since it works the best for me. But That means I have to do Squats and Deads on the same day.
Is it okay to do squats and deads in a superset?
Or is that too much at once?
what should I do?

if you're going to do squats and deads on the same day, whatever one goes second is going to be compromised. if you're going to go heavy, i wouldn't do the squats and deads as a superset. if you are going to go with this plan, then i would put on at the beginning and one at the end and switch the two every workout. for example:
w/o 1:
squats
other stuff
deads

w/o 2:
deads
other stuff
squats

this way, even though you might not be able to work your max in both lifts, you'll be able to switch them up in order to kinda keep things even.

theres my 10 cents my 2 cents is free

Do your compound lifts first. Exhausting yourself before a compound lift isn't going to help by any means.

ooooooo wait, i think i misread your post nick. r u doing an upper body day 1x a week and a lower body day 1x a week? if that's so, i agree with knucklets-do your compound lifts first, but i still suggest switching up the order each workout or every other workout.

i'm doing a 2 a week workout for inseason baseball training, but i have squats and deadlifts split. however, squats and deads are the only thing i do for legs. so, if i ever have to combine the 2 workouts due to time conflicts wit games and practices and other commitments, i do one first, my other exercises and then the other last.

You'll be fine. Do an alternating set, resting between each set and not just each pair of sets.

I supersetted those for a short while. It kicked my ass quick! As was said, it will compromise your performance in whatever else you do after you've fatigued yourself. Personally, I wouldn't make a habit of it.

I was doing a squat/dead superset last month. I can vouch for fatigue causing poor form, even with significantly decreasing the weight. My last set of the month, I strained my back and have not been able to perform lower body movements for two weeks.

You might alternate them for each workout. Every other lower body workout, do either deadlifts or squats. That way you put your all into each one.

Building on what lost dog said, can you do a 4 day split, but maybe only workout two or three days a week? That way, you can split up the deads and squats.

For example:

week 1:
workout a:
squats
goodmorning

workout b:
whatever upper body you do

week 2:
workout a:
deadlifts
lunges

workout b:
different upper body excercises

Heavy Squats and Deads on the same day on a continuous basis will get you in trouble.

Never 'superset' them - way too much.

A good rule of thumb is to combine a 'lighter' pull with a 'heavier' sq.

For example:
Overhead squats, deadlifts
Back sq, power snatch
Front sq, Power clean

If you are doing a 2 day split why not do an overall body workout? sq, push, pull...

sharkbait,
I am new to this forum, I did not mean to step on your advice - sorry if I did.
I over-simplified a very complex matter by calling ps, pc 'light' - I was just trying to generalize an idea that has a much broader concept for the original poster.

Hey man, we both love cleans and snatches - that's a good thing!

In Health,
Jerry

Jerry.... you didn't step on anything! don't worry about it...

i'm just wondering, do you consider them light pulls? I think they require more energy than deads, personally.

And hell yea, I love them!
