back where i was
Finally back where i was before the summer vecation and partying. Had to take 4 weeks off due to vecation and the first week of training after that was kind of bad due to some parties and stuff. Its now been 5 weeks, and i did a 100kg full squat (hams touched my calves) and everything. Now i can finally start to increese over that again, guess ill test again after maybe 4-6 weeks of training.
Also got a 55kg power snatch followed by a OH squat (which is the way i do the snatches)
one question: Ive heard if you catch the snatch in a quarter squat position or less its considered a power snatch, is that correct? i dont want to call something a power snatch if it really wasnt.

Just think of what you could have done in 5 weeks, if you didn't have 40 excuses that got in the way. I'm sorry, but that's just 100% puss...

err, i CHOSE to party that week, the vecation was not my choise though, i had to go with my parents, which sucked. I simply explained why i hit 100kg as a max, as if i dident, someone would probobly ask "dident you hit 100kg some time ago?"
Im just happy im back where i was, different people have different priorities, why is that so hard to understand? I simply want to have some fun with my friends, so it got to a coupple of late nights and a coupple of beers.

I fully understand, so there was nothing hard about it. I go on vacation during the summer, but also find local gyms and work out. Were you drinking for 5 weeks straight and couldn't workout? Were you having fun with your friends all day long, 7 days a week, during the 5 weeks? Could you have not done bodyweight workouts?
Sorry, I call it as I see it. And it's Vacation, Didn't and Couple... If you didn't want to hear me call you a pussy, you could have just left out the part about taking 5 weeks off and ask you question. But since this is the TRAINING forum, most people here overcome vacation getting in the way.
One more thing...It shouldn't suck spending time with the 2 most important people in your life. They created you, and raised you...

You can appreciate it.. but it can still suck! haha.
karky, you just must not be addicted yet. I think i have a better chance of not taking an off day for a month, then missing a whole month.

maybe im not addicted yet.
I was thinking about doing BW exersices, but it just dident happen. 4 of the weeks i was away on holiday, the 5th week was with my friends, i also went to the gym a coupple of times that week. Missing a month did suck, thinking back, i should have done some BW exersices.
i dont get why its being a pussy though.
and i would never drink 5 weeks in a row with my friends and using it as an excuse to not hit the gym :p

Sounds like girl talk to me. Over the summer I hung out with my friends and got trashed at least 7 times. And went on a short vacation. I took my squat from 80 -120.

Wish someone would force me to take a four week vacation!
Sounds like you're young and partying a tad too much. If your drinking regularly keeps you out of the gym the next day, you have a problem with alcohol. If this pisses you off, you definitely have a problem with alcohol.

What made you think i drink regularly? i said the first week back to the gym after the vacation was a bit bad because i had a coupple of parties with my friends, something i hadnt done in a long while. What pisses me off is that people think i have a problem with alcohol when i drink like once every 2-3 months on average (doesnt have to get wasted, just have a beer and chill or something), often it goes more than that in between, but then again, sometimes we party 2 days in a row.

Don't worry about what all these people are saying. If you want to take four weeks off, take four weeks off, if you want to party occasionaly, go for it. Life is about balance. The idea of exercise is to improve the quality of your life. But leisure time is very important to improving that quality also. I have been working out for over 30 years and I have taken whole months off during that time and didn't even think about exercise. It never hurt my progress and many times it helped.

congrats on your comeback! most of us have been slack asses at one point or another. *I* certainly don't have any room to bust your nuts for taking some time off because you wanted to.

You don't have to drink constantly every day to have a problem. I re-read your posts and you talked about "getting trashed" and not making it to the gym the next day and your comeback was bad due to "parties and stuff." "Partying two days in a row" is not normal drinking behavior.
Up to you, Dude. Just calling what I see.

The way I see it..
Drinking relaxes me, makes me feel good. So my CNS is getting all these good feelings brought to it, so I recover faster and get stronger quicker.
ok ok. I made that up. But the effect of drinking isnt THAT big I dont think. I have not noticed big differences, I dont drink all that much though (none compared to all the university kids here!)

Up here, its pretty normal behavior actually, maybe not normal for grown ups, but hey, im a 17 year old, its what we do. and the main reason i lost strenght was because i was away from the gym for 4 weeks.

Hey even my coach said all work and no play makes jonny a dull boy. It's all about moderation.
