Okay these are my events.. Triple jump, 100m, 200m..
My last track meet (monday) I got 2nd in triple, 2nd in 100m and 3rd in 200m..
I have a 13s 100m run how can i improve this ? Any tips or tricks? I started off in a standing position would it help if i was on one knee?
200m I got 28s which is horrible, concidering my schools fastest kid runs it in 22s, Am i suppose to be like going all out this entire way? I think I am out of shape cause i fatigue fast my coach says im good but ill be great when i get in shape..So, this an all out run like i do in the 100? Again any tips or tricks for a faster run?
Triple jump, this is fun im not that good on average i get 35-37 feet.. but i got second with only 32ft.. The only kid that beat me, his mom kicked my marker off the track... "I thought i was helping"...ya whaaateverr.. Anyway, don't really need much help for this..But if any tips can be given ill take em...
Ive been on the track team one week and my coach said that im getting my varsity letter, for one I dont even know what that means.. Appearently its a jacket and stuff.. I dunno.. I guess I just wanted to come on here to rant, kinda proud of myself..
Oh also repped 170x2 most ive ever done.. Its not my max I don't have a clue what my max is..

Good for you! Track is a great sport. It's one of those sports where you can develop good friendships with your competitors as well as your teammates.
For both the 100m and 200m you should start in blocks. Getting an explosive start is key to a good 100 time and will certainly help you on the 200 as well.
For the 200m you should go all out the entire way. Conditioning will get you there.

100....start out of the blocks. Practice getting out. Have someone stand behind you and give the commands...ready set bang. Also, when you come out, don't pop staright up--a lot of guys do this. You should surge straight ahead and gradually come up.
200--you will improve as you get more fit. 28s is nothing to sneeze at. As you get fitter, consider using blocks for this as well. Fitness, fitness, fitness....you will see vast improvements ove the course of your season, and should shoot to PR each time you're out there.
With both of these races, up on your toes and full out the whole way. Your heels never touch.
Triple jump--listen. You will hear it. Each step should be equal in the air. runrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrunrun runrunjump......tap......tap.. ....stretch the landing in the pit. Most guys have their second and third jump too tightly spaced because they are not coordinated or comfortable.
Get used to the rhythm of the jump. I used to just do jogs around the track and have kids jump......jump......pit, so they could get used to the sound and the rhythm of the triple.
You are taking off and landing on the same leg for the first stage, right?

Yes, i am taking off and landing with first leg... my coach says "Hop step jump".. it makes it a little easier to understand, but i learn from observation i think a few other kids got the hopping a little to much hop and not enough jump.. but i understand what she means.. I will keep you guys posted of my results from this.. My next meet is thursday

Did all of that make sense? Thought I had better check.
Also--Hop step jump...I've used that too. Keep at it...as your technique improves on this, you will see big improvements in distance. It is very technique sensitive. GOOD LUCK, JaW!

Well, I have a strained quad...
However, I still ran 2 of my events.. I came in 3rd in the 100m (the kids that beat me one had 11.6 and one had 11.8) I had 13.2 but on mondays meet I had 13.6, I think .4 is an improvment with a strained quad.
I also came in 2nd in triple jump with 32ft jump, kid that beat me had a 40ft jump..
I was supposed to run the 4x100 but I told my coach it would be stupid and I would totally rip apart my leg again..So we lost that event, and the meet acctually...She replaced me with someone slower, kind of depresses me..
Oh well, just wanted to keep you updated..
I went to charliefrancis.com or whatever the url is.. Pretty sweet

(Hope you dont mind that im keeping this thread going JP kinda tracking myself with it and looking for tips and junk)
Also, should I lift during the track season. Before track practice, thats the only time i would have time.. If so, whats a good routine for power?

You could open something in the training log area...
Tell your coach if you're going to miss a meet....I would have you out doing hills until I got tired...
